Advantages: Timely statements, debit card works everywhere.

Disadvantages: Always trying to sell to you, long queues in branch, telephonists unable to help.

I have held accounts with a few banks, and I have t say that Natwest is my least favourite. I know that no bank is perfect, and they can all be frustrating to deal with at times, but in my experience this one was worse than the others.

The reasons that I have been so disappointed with Natwest are-

They ALWAYS try to sell me something, or offer trials and such. Once I took them up on their offer of a trial to change my account (to a paying one, with of course better facilities!) and part of the agreement was that if I wished to cancel the trial, I could over the phone, at any time, and I would be refunded. Well, I did not see the benefit of the paid for account, so I tried to cancel the trail. However, they could not help me over the phone, so of course I had to go into the branch to do it. Then, they did not want to give me my money back, so I found out the info for the trial, and they finally returned my money a few months later.

Secondly, in the branch, there are never enough cashiers, and those that are there seem to be slow and unfriendly. It is not uncommon for me to queue for half an hour in my local branch! There is often only one cashier, who is clearly just wanting to get through all of the customers and has not got time to really help (fair enough, but they should have more cahsiers).

Finally, the people on the phone can almost never help you. As I mentioned in point one, I have had to go into the branch when those on the phone should be able to help me.

On the plus side, I have been pleased with my card, which works everywhere, and I always get my statements on time.

Summary: I do not use my Natwest account anymore, for good reason!

Most of my experiences with NatWest have been dreadful. Their customer services have been hopeless in sorting out a problem we have had with our credit card. Also, NatWest invest their money in loads of really unethical stuff. Co-operative and Smile are great as they commit not to do this.
