Advantages: Good customer service, helpful

Disadvantages: Savings rates not great

Let's be honest, no-one really *loves* a bank. We resent them because they tell us we have no money left, when what we really wna to to know is that yes, we can go shopping. However, some banks can soften the blow a little, and Natwest do seem to be approaching human in the way they deal with their customers.
The branch on campus that I have used for the last eight years is staffed by well-trained, bright, friendly people who are happy to help, and bother to address me by name when they talk.
Natwest also offer online banking and telephone banking, and you can actually speak to your branch on the phone, which can be useful, particularly if you bank in one place and live in another.
Their student accounts are good, with a reasonable overdraft facility and a five year young persons railcard (worth £120), which saves you at least 1/3 on rail fares - so worth it.
The only down side to all this is that their savings rates aren't that competitive; but you can always save with a better bank for that.

Summary: Best of a bad bunch
