Advantages: Plenty of branches for sat opening
Disadvantages: slow in responding to problems, hard sell
Natwest has to be one of the most troublesome bank I had ever have.
I changed my address, went down to the branch and submitted a form with my new address. Turns out that someone who was inputting my address screw up big time because they omitted my flat number. I did not get my debit card and my bank statements. I went down to the bank to check what was the address linked to the account and the customer service officer actually told me that the flat number was in the system.
I also called their hotline several times just to check my address and each time, they told me that my account was locked and they couldn't see anything. I was still able to withdraw money out of my account so I couldn't understand why it was locked.
Fed up, I went to queue up at a Natwest on Saturday (that must be their only redeeming factor) and checked that my flat number was not reflected in their system at all. I made sure it was in this time. A word of warning to others though: Make sure that you tell the bank to inform the credit card side that your address has changed. They will not do so automatically unless you tell them to.
My credit statement did not come for over two months until I went to natwest and they told me that I have to call up the credit card hotline for that.
It is also quite irritating that while was asking about my address to check things, they would try to hard sell me various products. I was thinking that while a current bank account was giving me so much trouble, it is not particularly enticing for me to open more accounts with them.
It is no surprise that Natwest needed rescuing from the govt with the kind of service that they provide.
Summary: st and they told me that I have to call up the credit card hotline for that.
