Advantages: Very polite people.
Disadvantages: Constantly asking if you want savings accounts.
I have had an account with Natwest bank for about ten years now and over all I have been really happy with the service they have provided.
The staff at my branch is generally very friendly and polite and I love the fact that they always ask if there is anything else they can do for me. I'm not particularly confident and I tend to speak quietly so I know if I rolled off a whole load of things I wanted them to do, in one go then they would miss half of t and I would end up leaving the bank without doing all what I want because I would be too embarrassed to say that I had some other things to pay in.
My local branch is a pretty big bank that has just been refitted and newly decorated. They have added a few more checkouts but in my opinion its still not enough. Half the time I will walk in and walk straight back out again because the queue tends to be so huge that it zig zags around the whole of the shop! It takes ages to move and when you have two little babies in tow you can't afford to be waiting around for ages.
A few times I have needed to change my details or do something to my account so I've had to wait in the customer services queue. Now when I said the normal queue was long well this queue is eve longer and because the people infront tend to have more complicated issues you can be stood there for half the day!
One thing that really annoys me about the bank is the fact that they will always try to sell me their policies. You can guarantee they will always ask and I will always say 'No'. Now maybe they came to know me very well or maybe they just do this to every customer once in a while but I was paying a bill one day and at the end of the transaction the guy informed me that I would have to go with one of his colleagues. He wouldn't give me my card back so I felt like I no other choice than to follow the lady to a little cubicle. Naturally I was a bit frantic thinking that something was very wrong. I thought maybe someone had taken loads of money out of my account and I was seriously overdrawn or something. When we got to the room the woman started to try and sell me a gold account! Needless to say I was pretty peeved but I kindly thanked her and said 'No' again!
The other day I was in the bank again. I wasn't even stood in a queue and I was approached. The lady started by admiring my lovely boys and asking how old they were then all of a sudden she pounced and asked me if I'd like a savings account. I explained very nicely that I would be emigrating next year (this is true) so am in no need of one. She quickly turned and walked back to her desk! I was shocked but now I know how to stop the little blighters in there tracks. I have used it several times since and I've not had any problems with them being pushy or anything so give it go guys it might work for you too.
I always get my statements through the post once a month and if I have had to ring them to query anything they have been really helpful and polite.
Over all the service I get form Natwest is great and I know my money is in good hands. The online banking is great and easy to use too.
Summary: Over all a good bank.

- 30/11/08 This constant sales treatment that you get from banks is really tedious. |
