Advantages: Free travel insurance with my Gold account has been handy
Disadvantages: Inconsistent levels of service
I have banked with Natwest for over 12 years since i was sixteen. I have a current account with them, Isas and Savings.
My experience overall has been good but there are ups and downs over the years and depending on which branch you go to.
Generally inside the branches is clean and presentable and staff all wear a uniform and a name badge which helps it to have a more friendly feel. I have noticed over the years that the staff working there seem to get younger and younger and i'm not too confident in their financial knowledge if i'm completely honest.
I gave up standing in the queues ages ago - there is always a queue no matter when you go to my local branch so if i'm paying anything in i just use the quick deposit box and i have never had any problems with this.
I am currently considering a mortgage with Natwest and when i went for my appointment the guy dealing with it was really knowledgeable about Natwest products and understood the process well. This was a good experience.
At the end of March i went to move some money from a savings account into a new Isa that i had opened and then i planned to move some more in April after the new tax year had started. I spoke with a young girl who assured me she has opened my Isa and would transfer the funds from other savings account. This didn't happen and it's lucky i went into find out why otherwise i might have missed out on £3600 worth of tax free savings. The girl also seemed to have slight memory loss as she couldn't even remember seeing me!
So as i say mixed experiences instore and i do my best to do all my banking with Natwest online which i have found the most efficient way so far.
Summary: Overall a good bank and i will stay with them
