Advantages: don't hastle me, student account facilities
Disadvantages: had a couple of hick-ups with my student account
Well i've always had an account with Natwest since i was little and never really had any problems to be fair.
A few years ago i decided i wanted an overdraft so to my delight they gave me one, one problem i did notice it was a little to easy to keep increasing the overdraft limit until i reached around £1200, when they realised i had far more than i should of actually had. One thing that i don't like is that i end up paying around £20 a month for this overdraft facillity as i seem to live in it as im a student.
As i am a student i decided to open a student account up like most students do as you can get an interest free overdraft, and as i was already with natwest i saw no reason to open it any where else. It was easy enough to open the account up and i automatically got an overdraft limit of £1250 (free money... im sure il regret this in a couple years). One attraction to the account was you could get a free 5 year railcard, for one reason or another i never recieved any of the imformation to apply for it, even though i asked again and still didn't get it. To be fair im not too fused about this as i don't use the train to get to university let alone remember when i last used it... but its more the principle i never recieved it.
A couple of weeks ago i popped into my local branch and they asked me to have a chat with an advisor which i was more than happy to do, i wasn't exactly sure what it was about but i suppose they are there to help. I was greeted by a friendly man who was trying to help me save money by upgrading my account... what a con to be fair he wanted me to pay £12 a month just to recieve a couple of extra beneifits and cut my interest charge on my current acount. I think il pass thanks! One thing he did notice was that when i opened my student account i didnt recieve my student credit card, i was like i wasn't even told about this. I was assured i was meant to have this as part of my student account, was i given the useless member of staff when i originally set my account up, who knows, but its taken over a year to recieve it, and it seems i will never recieve my rail card.
Overall i hav'nt had any major problems with the bank and they hav'nt really hastled me over the years, apart from the hick-up with my student account i am pretty happy with the service i recieve, and from feedback from my friends it seems to be a pretty good bank to go with.
Summary: overal seems to be pretty good bank
