Advantages: incentives given

Disadvantages: 0% overdraft forstudents too low

I have banked with Natwest (Part of the Royal Bank Of Scotland Group PLC) since I was fifteen. I was attracted by the free gifts, I think they were offering a third off a young persons railcard and some free music downloads. I also opened an internet ISA as at the time (about four years ago) it had the best rate of interest.

I really Liked my NatWest account as I could use the cards in most shops (all high street except for Accessorize) and on the internet, I had internet Banking so could transfer money between accounts easily, There are also Natwest branches in most towns so any problems I had could be sorted out. I found the staff to mostly be helpful and very pleasent. I only found one member of Natwest staff who was not nice, but nothings perfect.

I got overdrawn once with this bank account, I sent a letter to explain why and all charges were removed.

Now I am going to university however, the Natwest account offered is not so good. The 0% overdraft is much lower than most other banks, but to compensate for this thy offer a 5 year rail card, 4GB USB stick and money off Acer Laptops. All this does not compensate for the small 0% overdraft given so I am now going to switch banks.

Summary: the bank was great when I was younger but not a good student account
