Advantages: free overdraft, free £60 gift

Disadvantages: Slow, Behind the times

I opened a student current account a couple of months ago because it seemed like the best option. They give the biggest interest-free overdraft for first year students, and they paid me £60 just for the priveledge of opening it. However, when it came to actually using the account, i was less than impressed.
For a start, when i went to show them my ID and collect my card and chequebook, they said my ID was invalid, even though I'd brought in everything on the list they sent me. The online banking is slow and depressing. I had a letter saying that a cheque had bounced and i would be charged £30, then they sent me a letter the next day saying that was a mistake. It took them two months to put my overdraft on my account. And it takes DAYS for transactions to show on my account.
What can I say? I'm a modern girl, i deserve a modern bank.

I personally have not had a problem with them, I found that when a cash machine had double charged me, they were onto the case straight away and I got my money back that same day. Its a shame that you have had bad experiences with them, but I have found them to be very good. Just stick with them and I'm sure they'll produce more confidence for yourself.
