Advantages: Many branches and ATM's
Disadvantages: Poor correspondence, Quick to apply charges
Just looking through the summaries of the opinions on National Westminster Bank urged me to write myself. I agree, I agree, I agree. I too used to stick up for Natwest when all of my friends urged me to join other banks. This is because I genuinely thought that they provided a good service. Looking back now I wonder why it took me so long to take off my rose-coloured specs. I am a student and so I know that some of you will say that I deserve everything that I get and that I am a drain on society anyway. I would like to argue my corner and state that I pay my way and that I want to work. I just want to get a job that I enjoy, that's all (we can all have our fantasies!). Anyway, I digress. Back to Natwest (or "Natworst" as I saw them rather amusingly refered to). Over the past few months I managed to acrue around £300 worth of charges for various finacial offences such as unarranged borrowing, bouncing cheques and the like. "Naughty you" I hear you say. Maybe if I told you that the reason for my unarranged borrowing was due to the fact that Natwest decided to lower and raise my overdraft facility willy nilly, then your opinion might change. This has now happened on three separate occasions. Each time I have had direct debits not gone through, cheques bounce and angry letters through my door. Each time I have returned to Natwest and left thinking that it was all sorted and that was the end of it. The straw finally broke the camels back when I received a letter through the door not-so kindly asking me to return all of my servicecards, cheque books etc. to the bank and stating that if I tried to use any of them then I might be comitting a criminal offence. Nontheless, I am still with Natwest. Mainly because I am too busy (lazy?) to do anything about it. I have a graduate manager now and things are getting better. She is very nice and helpful, and she now fights my corners for me. In saying this, I think that th
e damage has been done. It is unlikely that, when I am rich and famous, I will be storing my millions in Natwest vaults.

- 03/08/02 Amazing how much more co-operative NatWest become when you graduate isn't..I think it was the threat of finally actually having an account in credit...but I know have an overdraft limit bigger then when i was a student...very strange |
