Advantages: Internet Banking, Helpful Telephone services, Friendly Staff

Disadvantages: Poor interest rates, Excessive overdraft rates, High street Branches never open when needed

I had a good account with Natwest for over a year but like most good things there's always a bad side. That came when my account got moved to the next bracket.

My interest rate went from 4% p/a to 0.1%!
What good is 0.1%? I don't even pay tax on that so I guess I'm lucky...

Natwest also neglected to pay my interest for 2 months (although it turned out it cost them more to send an apology letter than to give me the 2p(!!!) skiped interest...

Luckily I have never gone overdrawn but it does seem excessive that you are not only charged £20+ for the initial error of going overdrawn, but a further 50p+ per day for being over drawn...

Through that though the staff on the telephones and in the branches are always helpful and the ability to phone the nearest branch helps.

I had an account once with HSBC which was an even bigger mistake becuase the staff were the most miserable lot of people I've seen. The Natwest staff however are ever so kind so a good impression has come from that.
