Advantages: for students apparently

Disadvantages: see opinion please.

I banked with Natwest for 4 years. It was a current account, with a check book and solo card. I could have had a check garentee card, but opted not to.

I had nothing but problems with them for the whole 4 years of banking with them. They let me go overdrawn, without an overdraft facilaty on my account. This was because I pulled off a mini statement and did not realise that they dont show what had gone out of my account for 3 working days, so I thought I had money, they let me take it out, and they tried to charge me £27.50!! If the money is not in my account, they should have refused to let me have it? surely? I managed to get the charges waived as it was not really my fault, if I cant see what I have taken out on a mini statement (this is what they are for), then I can not be to blame.

I would not advise anyone to go with natwest, I am not the only person to have problems with them. I have heard that their student accounts are good, but they are not any use to me!

Natwast should try and update accounts at least every day. I now have a halifax account, and if I take £10.00 out, and then get a mini statement strait after, it shows that I have just taken the money out, with natwast, it is still 3 working days before it shows? why? if every other bank do it, why not them?

Cheers, I'm looking for a student account at the moment and one or two people have told me to avoid NatWest because of the high charges.
