As a former non-believer in sending money and handling financial transactions online, I can tell you that it was Paypal who changed all that for me and gave me the confidence in the system to do it.

I use Paypal every single day as I have an eBay shop which is obviously linked heavily to Paypal. I find Paypal to be very fast and efficient in every way. The website is always online and advertises any maintenance well in advance. The site is clear to use and well presented, giving you what you need to know straight away.

The handling fees are the only draw back with Paypal as I don't see why they need to take 27p off me everytime I sell a card at £2.65, but those are the terms I signed up to so I can't complain.

The withdrawal system seems pretty steady and I can almost bet my house on a Monday withdrawal being in my bank account by Friday of that very same week. That is very good by any banks standards.

On the odd occasion I have had an issue, I have found the staff, both remote and over the phone to be polite, informative and speedy.

Summary: Definitely the most secure way to run an eBay shop financially
