This means that if you go up to £10 above your overdraft limit then you are not charged for that extra £10. RBOS however charge you £30 even if you have only gone over your limit by 10p! As other students will know it is difficult to live off of the student loan and the overdraft and occasionally I have accidentally gone over my overdraft by £1-£2 but I knew I would only be over my limit by a few days so I didn?t worry too much about it. As a university student I had to take out a student overdraft to pay for rent, tuition fees etc. I chose the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBOS) because it offered the highest overdraft limit for a student at the time (£1600). However since joining them I have experienced the worst customer service, horrible hidden charges and I basically believe that they are the worst bank ever. First of all, unlike most modern banks, if you ever had a query or wanted to change address etc. you HAD to go to your home branch.
