RBS really is the best for me! (RBS Royal Bank Of Scotland)

Advantages: Friendly helpful staff, always try to help there customers

Disadvantages: Not enough branches

My partner and I have our mortgage with RBS as they were the only company we could get a mortgage with when we bought our first home two years ago. I have to say that they have been brilliant since they day we took up the mortagage. The information pack they send you is very informative and they advise us what type of home insurance we should have to make sure we were properly covered, they didnt even push for us to take out there own insurance policy.


9months after we took up the mortgage we switched bank accounts and took up the new banks offer to handle all direct debit transfer for us, any way this got complety messed up by the banks and in short our mortgage payment was not paid. RBS were really good and informed us straight away and took the payment over the phone, they then swiftly sent out new forms to rectifiy the problems.

Our two year fixed rate dealat 5.45% ended in April 09 and when we called them to see what we could transfer to the staff were very friendly and informative they sent out information on the mortgages that were avalibale to us and gave us the option of transfering on to a variable rate whist the bank of england base rate is low then signing up for a new deal later on, which meant our payments would be less. At 3.9%

Even more recently my partner was made redundant and we wouldnt be able to meet our next months payment. They were brilliant on the phone and offered us a payment holiday for up to 6months. We chose to reduce our payments by half for up to 6months to ease our financial constraints. It was so reassuring to be able to speak to someone who understood how worried we were. i dont think i would get that we any other bank or financial organisation.

If it wasnt for the local branch being more than 20miles away i would have more of my financial requirements, like current accounts, with RBS as i have been so impressed with them in the past 2 years.

They havent had such a good press with regards to the bosses and MD's up the ladder but the people you speak to over the phone are so helpful and are in this country, it makes all the diffrence and is what really matters to me.
