Advantages: Inclusive Annual Travel Insurance, Free Membership of Virgin Wines, 25% off theatre tickets

Disadvantages: £10 a month

One day as I was trying to see through my bank's digital banking some statements,I noticed that they had some new - to me anyway- accounts. They had the Royalties and the Royalties Gold Account. With the Royalties was included an Accidental Death cover of £5000 along with other benefits. With £10 you have £10,000 accidental death cover (of course £10,000 its not much but is ok for my circumstances).I was tempted.

I was paying £5.25 per month for my accidental death insurance and with £4.75 more, I had so many other benefits as well. So there and then, very easy, really with a click only,I changed my simple current account to Royalties Gold.

After 10 days I received a package from Royal Bank of Scotland. The package had 2 Royalties Gold Membership cards, a Travel Insurance and Policy Document, a 56 page Service Guide and a 200 page Royalties Gold Member?s Guide to Hotels ' Restaurants.

What is Royalties Gold Account offers:

Discounted personal loans or car buyer?s loans.
Up to 1.5%APR if the loan is over £3000 and 1% APR off smaller loans. They only thing you have to do is to call the free helpline and quote the membership number or go to the local branch. (I am not going to my local branch because the customer service is really bad! They have some new employees now and I hope that they are better than the other really unhelpful staff.)

Discounted credit card rate.
2% APR off standard credit card rate along with 0% introductory rate for the first 6 months on purchases and balance transfers. Also you can collect Air Miles.( 1 Air Mile for every £20 pounds you spend with the credit card)

They are offering 0.25% interest on a range of savings accounts as well.

Overdraft
You don?t pay any fees on agreed overdrafts of up to £15,000 but there is of course a low rate of interest. For overdrafts up to £250, if you have an agreed limit of £250 or more , you don?t pay any interest at all.
I will definitely take advantage of it!

Special terms on Stakeholder Pensions offered through Royal Scottish Assurance ( the bank?s life assurance, pensions and investment company )

Discounted online and telephone share dealing.
That?s great if you are following the Stock market. They are giving 20% discount on standard commission charges. You can trade online or by telephone. The telephone service offers: real time share price quotes, set a limit and your shares will be traded automatically, if they reach your chosen price within 25 days(excellent service that really helps you to make money) and you can settle your trades by Direct Debit or through Direct trader Cash Management account (the second will cost you more). The online service offer all the above plus live portfolio tracking, price alerts when the your shares reach the price you have set. Virtual portfolio service that allows you to try new strategies before you committing your founds.

Travel
Inclusive worldwide annual family travel insurance which I found it excellent. Its free if your holidays or business trip last up to 31 days. For more you have to pay some extra. Once you have taken the Royalties Gold account you don?t need to do anything about it because you are automatically registered for this benefit. It even renews itself each year. They only want from you to take your ? Travel Insurance Certificate and Policy? document with you wherever you travel. Its very easy to make a claim. After a telephone call they will send you a claim form. You are completing that and sending it along with the your ? Travel Insurance Certificate and Policy? document, which they will return it to you later, and that?s all.

10% Discount on holidays and travel
Package holidays, tours or cruises operated by any licensed major tour operator(no direct sales companies). Scheduled and charter airline tickets, ferry travel tickets, car rental reservations, hotel reservations. How
it works? You call free the Royalties Membership Services and you are giving them your membership number and you will be connected with a travel consultant. You are telling them where you want to go and the departure dates and after you have agreed with the arrangements you make a deposit with debit or credit card or by cheque (will be confirmed after it has been cleared though). After they will send you an invoice and you will receive the tickets and travel documents two weeks before you go.

Access to airport executive lounges.
If you book your travel through the above service they will send you one complimentary admission voucher with your travel tickets for use on your outbound journey. This voucher states the lounges? location and covers all members of the traveling party. You go to the lounge and simply present the voucher to gain free entry. There you will enjoy free drinks and snacks and fax and photocopying services. Some of the lounges available are : Heathrow, Luton, Manchester, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham, Gatwick etc.

Commission Free Travel money
You call them or you go to your branch and they will have them ready for you in two days the most.

Discounted hotel accommodation
In the pack they sent me, there is a booklet with 1,200 quality hotels in the UK and Europe where you can claim 25% off normal room rates.

Worldwide cash transfer
With a single call you can get up to £1000 in local currency or the available balance on your account. You are telling them where you are and they arrange a convenient pick up point.

Leisure.

25% off theatre ' concert tickets, Family days out discount ,Event Reminder service (very cheesy) To access these benefits all you need to do is call the free phone of Royalties Gold Services

Protection
Paymen

When you will received it you will have £5 worth of free calling credit.
Discounts on selected CDs, videos, DVDs etc ,20% off Books.

Finally its very easy to manage your account if you register for Digital Banking. The Internet banking service lets you use your PC or Mac, your desktop or your laptop to do your banking and also you can join Direct Banking, The Royal Bank of Scotland?s 24 hour telephone banking service.

I really like that account because it corresponds to my everyday needs and the same time I am enjoying so many benefits.
If you are banking with Royal Bank of Scotland, I recommend Royalties Gold Account.

Thanks for reading.

Super write up and nice awarded crown - I simply trust no bank with my money - they are all the same , greedy and only show their true colours when something happens and you need them - Thanks :)

Hmmm... I'm always dubious about paying for accounts, as I often fail to make use of all the benefits available, but I agree this does sound better than most.

Excellent op ;)
