Advantages: cash back on everyday direct debits
Disadvantages: £2 a month fee
I read various reviews on here and other websites about the 1,2,3 account with santander. It gives you a certain small percentage cash back on things like your electric and gas, your council tax and your broadband provider.
If you add up all of these amounts then it doesnt seem to make a lot but then if you add it up over a year and then take away the amount that it charges per month which is £2 it ends up being a substatial amount that you are then saving.
It doesnt have a lot of general interest on the account but as I spend so much on my monthly bills it makes total sense.
I also got £100 for opening the account which I will receive in a few months as the account is new.
It was easy to open online through quidco which then went to the website. It took around ten minutes to fill in the form and then I had to send off some ID document copies to get my account opened.
I now have online and telephone banking, its really easy to transfer money and you dont need a card reader like with natwest my previous bank.
I read online that santander customer service is useless but they actually called me about a possible fraud and although it turned out to be nothing I was glad that they were on top of things.
Summary: Its turned out ok so far
