Advantages: Good customer services. Wide range of products. Easy to use website
Disadvantages: None that I can think of.
I have never had any problems with Smile at all and would recommend them to anyone.
I joined them approximately 2 years ago following the end of an IVA I had completed. They seemed to be one of the only banks that wanted to give me a chance to prove myself now as "money trusted" and were so helpful it was great.
My application was quick and I was kept up to date all the way through. I initially had a current account and a Visa card with them, then I opened up a savings account.
Now, I have 3 current accounts, a visa account and a savings account with them and have no plans to move anywhere at the moment (unless I go for the One account next year)
Their customer service, I have found, has always been a pleasant experience with friendly, knowledgable staff who answer the phone quite quickly.
They offer a whole other range of financial goods as well as accounts, including mortages, insurances of different types, different types of savings and investment options amongst others.
I have always found the website easy to use and like the fact that I can see all my finances together on 1 page and switch and change between the accounts very quick.
I like this internet bank and due to my previous financial problems, have had to deal with a lot of banks, and Smile for me comes out on top of all the others!
Also I pay a lower rate of interest on my credit card as I have a current account with them too.
Summary: A good all round account with excellernt customer services

- 23/05/07 I'd have to disagree. smile's website is brilliantly well designed and easy to navigate, but as soon as you need help from a person you may find "computer says no".
I'm not sure smile provide their employees with phones, prefering to communicate solely by secure message (even when I requested a phone call!). The email notification of a secure mail often fails with my account and in the past I've had my account frozen for not responding to a secure message quick enough. You'd have thought that someone would have thought to give me a bell before cutting me off on holiday and leaving me stranded with no access to cash.
In short, if you want a completely computer operated account then smile are great, but the second you need a bit of human interaction they fall at the first hurdle. |
