Advantages: Great Rates, GreatService, Easy to Use

Disadvantages: none

I have had a smile account for about 1 year and love it. It is great. Not just because I get a rate of interest on my current account greater than most banks pay on a savings account but also for the following reasons ( BEST ONE SAVED TILL LAST ):-

1. I can access all account details, including credit cards, on-line 24 hours a day.

2 I can also pay bills online

3 I can set up direct debits and standing orders on-line.

4. I can send online message to Smile if I have queries as well as phone up the customer services department .

5. Credit card interest rate is 9.99% - very competitive.

6. Smile offers all the services you would expect from a normal high street bank. If you wish to pay in cash you can do so at a post office and if you wish to withdraw money you can at any link machine - free of charge.

7. Excellent standards of customer service -well trained staff every time while I was on the phone.

8. Excellent easy to use web platform. Responsive too - I never have to wait long.

9. Great ISA rates - consistently in best buy tables in press money sections.

10. Good security - lots of questions before access is granted - very important for a web based bank.

11. Backed by Coop - so likely to be around for a while!!!

12. Automatic INTEREST FREE 500GBP overdraft - no fees either.

13. BEST OF ALL - no statements by post. My girlfriend cannot see where I am spending my money - a real lifestyle feature this for all of us in glass houses!!!!!

Downsides?? Tricky to think of any really. Maybe they could pay monthly interest on the savings account (which is annual at present) although interest on the current account is paid monthly and isn't a significantly lower rate.
