I have been trying to telephone Tesco Bank for two days - waited 43 minutes the first time, 15 min the second time and now I am at 20 minutes and still waiting (even pushing the button saying I was a new customer (even though I am not) didn't 'spring' them into action !) Thinking about opening a fixed rate saver acct and want them to transfer the funds from my internet saver into this but I suspect this will be too difficult for them and I will probably end up closing my account with Tesco altogether. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ........have read previous reviews on this website and totally agree with them. TESCO ARE A DISASTER AS A BANK.

A disaster. Cannot access my account - keeps telling me my system invalid which is rubbish. Really annoyed with Tesco and their impossible online banking system. Webpage a mess!! Have to give one star, no choice. If I had a choice I wouldn't give any!

The Tesco Internet Banking website is absolutely HORRIFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!Who designed it? Some manger's 11 year old kid? Has that person never looked at any other bank's site?I understant that security is important but is it necessary to have a dozen different pins, passwords and machines? A lot of them cannot be changed so that one can actually remember these things. People will end up wrting them down- so much for security. To top it all, if one wants to complain it has to be by letter because they do not accept e-mails! Is this really internet banking or some kid's school project?

The web-site is a complete disaster. I have an account which I am unable to access. Using Firefox, any e-mail submitted as part of login is rejected as "invalid format", even though perfectly valid. I switched to IE, and it decided it wanted to re-register me. There appears to be no help desk. I contacted the only phone number I could find, and they tell me to write! They have my money and I can't get at it. There's not really much point in internet banking without a solid website, and this isn't one.

A few years ago, my aunty and I set up an account together with Tescos. They appeared to offer a comparably good rate of interest for the time. We were required to send off out details together with two bank statements from another bank accounts. We did this in good faith as they told us it was a security requirement. The bank account was opened, and I waited and waited and waited for my bank statements to be returned to me. After waiting a reasonable length of time (about a month), I phoned them up. I was told that they would send them on and that I would receive them within the next few days. I waited and waited and they didn't turn up. I phoned them up and this time they apoligied and said that they must have been lost. LOST! How can they lose such an important document, meant for security purposes. So, I invest my money with them and they're going to misplace it, lose it, drop it on the floor when tranferring it to the bank? I was very cross with what they had done as these documents are important for tax reasons. After having to phone up again, the said that they would pay for me to get a new copy of my statements. Were they going to pay for my time and transport to go to my bank to do this? Halifax were shocked when I explained what had happened and gave me the statements free of charge. I would not recommend Tesco banking, they should stick to what they know...selling bananas. The ironic thing was, not long ago I wanted to inform them of a change of address. They wrote a snotty letter back saying that they needed a copy of my signature as they hadn't got an update one on file. Well, wasn't there an update signature on the letter I wrote to them requesting the change of address? Anyway, in the end I closed the account because it is rubbish. They don't even tell you what interest you have accumulated without nagging at them. I would rather lose a few pence interest and bank with a professional organisation.

A very simple to use savings account. The minimum balance is only a £1 and the interest rate is approximately 5%. You open the account by picking up an application form at any branch of Tesco and posting it off. You will then get sent an ATM card and pin number which you can use in any Tesco store to withdraw up to £500 a day, or in Link machines to withdraw up to £300 a day. You will also get the option of registering with the phone banking and Internet banking services. You can also decide whether you want your interest calculated monthly or annually. Deposits can be made at branches of the Bank of Scotland, branches of Tesco (cash only) or by post (cheque only). Alternatively, you can set up a regular direct debit from a current account or a flexible direct debit (when you can vary the amount and regularity of the transfer). Your statements will arrive quarterly and are clear and easy to use. Any changes to services or interest rates are sent to you well in advance of them taking place. I have had my account since they were started and I have never had any complaints with the service that I have been provided. If you are looking for a flexible savings account this is really worth looking into.

If you are looking for a good safe place to save with a decent interest rate I do not think you cannot go wrong with a Tesco Savings Account. The Interest rate at this moment is 5.25%. This is very good and well above average for instant access savings accounts. Money can be paid in and withdrawn at any Royal Bank of Scotland branch or at any Tesco store and that in most cases means 24hours a day. Both my wife and myself have instant savings accounts with Tesco and find the service very good. The only drawback is that you cannot have you salary paid into the account. The online banking is also very good and is updated almost instantaneously, so much so that a purchase is made using your card in the morning and the transaction appears on your account by the afternoon. Tesco also offer a telephone banking service. I rate their service very good and in my opinion they could teach the big names is banking a lesson or two.
