I like to use disposable BBQ's in the summer and the fact that they are an affordable alternative to those very expensive garden BBQ's  makes they a great choice for a garden party or small get together. 

The only problem I have with disposable BBQ's is how incredibly hot the silver tray can become once the coals have been lit. We had an old computer desk in our back yard waiting to be collected so we decided to use it as a makeshift table for one of the disposable BBQ's. After an hour or so we could smell burning but it wasn't the lovely smell that comes from cooking on a BBQ of from the coals heating up. 

It was the table burning! We moved the tray using some oven gloves. And The table looked like coal, it was heavily burned and scorched. So once that had happened we went out looking for a useful, safe alternative.  We found this one in B&Q and it only cost five pounds, so that ticked every box.

But what is it?
Well, it's a thin yet sturdy foldable metal stand. It Just opens like a deck chair by pulling the two edges apart. It has four thin legs and a simple top that I clip to hold in place. The legs look very unsteady but once it's placed on a flat surface it is surprisingly good at it's job. Now you can't go man handling it as it will topple over, but if to use it correctly it is a very handy, compact, safe tool to use.  Once I'm finished cooking the food I let the tray cool down, remove it from the stand, clip open the top and fold it flat. This stand can fit easily into the boot of the car making it great if you want to have a pick nick  somewhere or a BBQ anywhere other than your back yard.
