We used to have a lovely gas barbeque in our garden, which probably got used about twice a summer. Also, we had a habit of forgetting to clean the thing after use _ well you do don't you? - which meant that when we next came to use it we would invariably find it in a none too seemly state often with a couple of abandoned mouldy sausages for good measure! Therefore, we decided to get rid of the unsightly object and would, on the rare occasions that the weather was good enough and we were inclined, try using a disposable barbeque instead! This is why, last weekend we were found with a group of friends and a Bar-be-quick Disposable Barbecue!

The barbeque comes in a foil tray and is filled with charcoal. It claims that it can be lit with just one match and we found that was definitely the case. You do not need to bother with fluids or firelighters. It also did not take long for the heat to spread nice and evenly and we were ready to start our cooking. You do need to think carefully about where you will place it. You definitely need it at the right height for cooking although probably placing it directly on a table is not advisable. My husband found a couple of bricks which meant that we were able to raise it off the table and we found that it cooked everything really well.

Although the cooking area is not huge, it was surprising just how much we could actually cook at one time. We found that the cooking area could easily accommodate a few burgers and sausages at the same time. Also, we were able to cook over quite a long period of time. The pack claims that it provides a cooking time of one and a half hours, but in reality it actually lasted a great deal longer. In fact we were probably cooking at least forty five minutes longer than it claimed we could - and all the food tasted very good.

The price is very reasonable too although it varies slightly between different retailers. The cheapest I have found it is in the Blacks Summer Sale for only £2.99, which is excellent value. If you are like us, and only want a couple of barbeques a year and not do anything too flash, these are really economical. You will need to have had a good number of barbeques using these before you will have equalled the cost of buying a reasonable 'proper' barbeque!

The other great thing about this barbeque is that there is the minimum amount of mess and as soon as it has cooled down you can just throw it out - no need to clean anything down! You literally use it once and then dispose of it. And of course it's totally portable so you are not just restricted to barbequing in your own garden - you can go where ever you like (as long as it is safe and permissible to do so!)

Overall I can't fault this disposable barbeques in cooking ability, price and ease of use. It's just what you need for that occasional Summer barbeque - weather permitting of course!
