Advantages: healthier eating, easy to maintain
For cooking meat, I have never really been that big a fan of frying it and so when I started watching what I was eating and enjoying my meat more I invested in a George Foreman grill. These are very popular and most households will have a grill like this in some form or another. I wanted the actual George Foreman one and I wanted a decent sized one too as when cooking for dinner parties or guests, I like to have room to cook a few bits of meat at once which is exactly why this particular model was the right one for me.
This grill is very nice to look at and very classy, it is a round sort of oval shaped silver grill and on the top of the lid it has the George Foreman logo and has the timer on the top along with the start button. When lifting up the lid the grill inside is black and ridged and a good size for cooking and this grill is on legs just so it stands up from the surface ever so slightly. This model comes with a drip tray aswell which really is an essential part of this machine to collect dripping fat. Overall it looks nice and fits in nicely with my kitchen as I keep it in the corner of my work surfaces.
GEORGE FOREMAN 10099
This George Foreman grill has a lot of great things going for it. A few of the features of this grill are that it has a 20 minute digital timer with an auto shut off setting. You can change the temperature on this from min to max by sliding along the lever. It cooks meat evenly and fast and I do agree with this completely as well as the fact that it has the removable drip dray and a ready to use indicator and it has the 'Start' and 'Time' buttons. The grill claims to cook twice as fast as normal cooking methods which does sound too good to be true.
The hinge adjusts on this meat thickness which is very useful and the grill is non stick which is a lot easier to use on something like this. It cooks about 6 pieces of meat at any one time but this depends on which cuts your are cooking although it is spacious. The surface is 680cm in width so you can get a rough idea by that as to how much food you can fit onto the grill. You get a spatula included in this kit as well as it having a 75cm cord and it is 4.2kg in weight and if you want an idea of its size it is 170 mm x 365 mm x 350 mm (H x L x W).
With this grill I always use it when cooking meat, it is just easier to use than any other pan I have and it is all in the one grill to save on cleaning. I have used this grill for everything whether it be steaks, sausages, bacon, vegetables, lamb chops, etc you name it I have used it on this grill. I also use chicken and if I were cooking something like that I'd definitely fit 6 breasts on this at the one time. The grill cooks very easily and so all that you need to do is monitor your meat and you may have to cut into it to check it has cooked right through.
For example if you are cooking sausages for your Sunday breakfast you may find it hard to see if they are cooked right through but normally start on about 10 minutes at first just to see that it is cooking your meat thoroughly and then ensure you have your drip tray in place at the end of the grill so that all of the fat rolls into it. You will be amazed at the amount of fat that collects off things like sausages and bacon it is a lot and usually when the time is up your grill will beep loud to let you know it has cooked.
If you feel the meat is still not cooked just click your time button and put it on for a further few minutes and click the 'Start' button and it will cook it until it is perfect. You will find when using this frequently you will start to know the correct cooking times for your different cuts of meat and the more you use it the better you will get so that meat is cooked to perfection. I find that every piece of meat or veg tastes great from this grill. It eliminates that dripping fat you get from some meat and makes food just taste so much better and much more lean and healthier.
I love my grill and it speeds up cooking as well as if frying I never used to want to load a pan up whereas with this I can put on 6 or so sausages at a time and it has cooked them all at once and they are ready to serve like that. Another thing I love a lot about this is that when you have finished cooking you just need to empty the drip tray which is easy to do and then clean it out ready for next time. It shows you just how much fat you are not putting into your body and makes you feel happy you have purchased it right away.
Also being a non stick grill all you need to do is run over the grill with a damp cloth to clean it and all dirt will come off of this. Even if some bits stick to it let it cool right down for a while and then they will all just peel off with ease and it doesn't really take a high level of maintaining with this grill it really is just the perfect addition to any kitchen and now I have mine I just couldn't be without it as I use it for literally everything.
I can easily recommend this to those who do not have a George Foreman grill this one is a good size for a small household or a normal family of four, I'm sure there are bigger grills but this has a good size range for tea time meals and small gatherings and is an alright price. I find this big enough for me as it is easy to store and move out of the way and does me just fine for whoever I have round. It is a time saver and good for your health and it just makes life easy. You don't need to stand over it monitoring it you just put your food on and get on with what you need until you hear the beep.
If you fancy this model of George Foreman grill you can get it on Amazon for £53 at the minute which is a really good price for this one.
