Advantages: Easy and safe to use, heats up quickly, easy to store, cooks food efficiently and quickly

Disadvantages: The grill plate could do with being a little bigger for my needs

I have spoken in the past about the kitchen gadgets that I have in my house. There are some that are in constant use whilst there are others that seem to get pushed to the back of the cupboards. One gadget that has been pushed to the back of the cupboard is my George Foreman grill, the 12617 model. I first purchased this when the grills were all the rage and I decided that I wanted one as everyone else seemed to be having one! I used it constantly and then I guess like anything, it seemed to get overtaken by something else. When having a little bit of a clear-out quite recently I got it back out and did some cooking on it again. Here are my thoughts on the model.

It was a while ago when I first brought this so I cannot remember the exact price but I think it was around the £25.00 mark. The model is still available today and it is on Amazon for £27.99 which isn't a bad price really. I think they seem to have disappeared a little bit from the shops but the electrical retailers and Argos still stock them. I got mine from Amazon as this at the time happened to be the cheapest place.

The product cam e and I remember it looking smaller than I thought it would be, not that this was a problem, with all the other gadgets that I have in my kitchen, one more wasn't going to make too much of a difference! There were some detailed instructions that came with the model as well as manufacturer's guarantee which I think was for the one year. The other thing that I noticed was that it wasn't too heavy so again, ideal if you want to move it from the work surface and into a cupboard (Approx. 4 kg in weight)

The grill is mainly silver and blacks in colours and it is quite a sleek looking design in my opinion. The grill is really easy to use. You need to life the lid on the grill to reveal the grill itself. Once plugged in the grill needs to warm up and this takes about 3 minutes to reach temperature. Once it has reached this, the light will go from red to green on the front of the grill and you are ready to get cooking. I must point out that there are also handles at either side of the grill; these never get warm so if you need to move the grill slightly when it is cooking then you can and it is still safe to do so.

The grill cooks very efficiently and cooks in an even way. I cannot criticise the efficiency of the grill in anyway. I first cooked something really simple on thee, some sausages and some bacon, it seemed to go well and it was also tasted well which I guess it the main thing. I guess my complaint and it is partly my own fault that the surface of the area isn't that big so you can't cook any vast amounts of foods on the grill. I would like on the odd occasion to have been able to have cooked more on there and just have not be able to do so which is shame. I think this is partly why we have not used this product as much as we wanted, you just can't cook the quantities on it.

I like that the grill promotes a healthy way of eating and it does come with the drip tray. It is also really easy to clean and is no hassle to let it cool down and then just wipe the grill plates down.

In summary, whilst I am happy to recommend the product, just be warned, if you want to use it for larger amounts of cooking then it is not the greatest.

3 out of 5 from me

Thank you for reading

Summary: A great grill, just wish the surface was bigger
