Advantages: Great quick food

Disadvantages: Cleaning is a bind

My old George died after 5 years of valiant service, so I had to look for a new one. There are many new models out, but I went for the updated version of my old one.

It is priced around £35 at most stores, but I bought mine at Instore for just £19.99-Bargain.

Sizewise, it can take up to 4 reasonable sized burgers, or 4 big chicken breasts. Main difference between this and the old one is that the feet on this one seem to slip a bit more than the old one, which is a bit of a problem when cleaning, and the fat catching tray is a lot deeper. Plus you only get one spatular now :(

Good points are that it heated up a lot quicker than my old one (around 4 minutes as opposed to 6 minutes), and it seemed to be a bit hotter on the contact ridges, as the "char grill" bars were a lot more prominant on this one.

Food cooks just as quickly - 5 minutes for thick burgers or thick chicken breasts, and they come out even more succulent than ever before.

It is great for cooking fajita's also. Mix the strips of raw meat with strips of raw onion, pepper and seasoning, throw the whole lot on the grill, and put the tortillas in the warming compartment above. 5 minutes later, a mexican feast.

Cleaning is easy if you follow my tip. as soon as you finish cooking, wet a large dishcloth, and place onto the grill. Close the lid, and when you come to clean it after the meal, it will wipe off very easily. Problem is, when you wipe, the machine tends to move around a bit due to the lack of rubber on the feet, so I have put some on myself, and it seems to work fine. Dont bother with the special sponges, they are a waste of money, just get cheap non-stick ones from tesco.

I love my georges, and would reccomend it to anyone.

Summary: I love my george!!!

Well done on a well covered review! I use a microfibre cloth to get everything off mine.
