Advantages: Cooks quickly
Disadvantages: No temp control
This is the first George Foreman grill I have bought and I'm pretty impressed with it. I was worried it might be one of those kitchen gadgets that gets shoved at the back of the cupboard after a month.
It really is very versatile. I've cooked chicken breasts, sausages, pork chops, aubergines, mushrooms, bananas, pineapple, etc. It's also really good for making toasted sandwiches or recreating those expensive paninis you can buy with some part-baked bread.
Apparently you can even cook sliced potato but I have not tried that yet.
It's very satisfying seeing the fat drain out of your food, knowing that had you cooked it in the oven you would be eating all those extra calories. The fat drips into a little tray provided and cleaning couldn't be easier. A damp cloth placed on the grill while still warm gets all the grease off. Much easier that cleaning a big roasting tray or a conventional grill.
However, there are a couple of disadvantages of this model. There is no way to control the temp, it's either on or off (some of the other models do have this facility). Also, I would say the bun warmer is pretty naff and I haven't used it at all. I tend not to eat bread rolls with all my meals!
All in all a good buy, and a bargain because I found mine in Asda for £19.99.
Summary: Ideal for quick meal/snack
