George Foreman 18451 Heritage Grill
Advantages: Easy and safe to use, good value for money, makes meal time a healthy one, quick to heat up
Disadvantages: None from me
I am sure we have all heard of the George Foreman grills. Even before me and my other half moved in together we were looking at them, he even brought one before we moved in together. I guess they were the mist have thing and everyone you spoke to had one. Our old one didn't make the move when we moved a couple of years ago, it had certainly lasted well but we decided to invest in a new one as we wanted a slightly bigger one and after looking around we opted for the George Foreman 18451. Here are my thoughts on the product.
As I mentioned above, I am sure we have all heard of the George Foreman brand. It really took off a few years ago and I must admit that I am all for the healthier way of cooking things. The model that I brought cost me £29.99 off Amazon and it is still available from there. You can find it in a number of places though, high street stores like Argos stock them as well as electrical retailers and I have even spotted them in places like the Range. Dependent upon where you get the product from will depend on how much you pay for the product but for this model £30.00 is about average.
The product arrived well packaged and in a bright and glossy box. Upon opening I revealed a black and bright purple grill, totally different to my original model that had a blue colour plastic lid. This one was also longer and less wide in shape. It had the George Forman logo on the front and came with a very detailed instruction booklet as well as having a one year manufacturer's guarantee.
The George Foreman is really easy to use, that it why I love cooking on it so much. The grill in our cooker is not the quickest and I find it really smokes my kitchen out, where with this George foreman model; it is really easy to plug it in, let it heat up and cook the food in a really healthy manner. The grill had a good amount of electrical lead, at least 70cm and I was able to plug it in and place on my worktop and get cooking. You need to warm it up first and once the grill is heated, you will see that the 'ready to cook' light will come on.
The plates for the George Foreman are made from a non stick material so you can place your food onto the grill without having to use any kind of spray. The lid will lift up and the good thing about this model compared to the others is that there is a floating hinge so that you can cook really thick ingredients on it. As with the other George Foreman grills, there is the drip tray for any grease and fat to t go into when the food is cooking.
I find this appliance really to use and it seems to have a bigger surface area than my other George Foreman. It is really efficient and as I do try my best to healthy eat, I quite like seeing the fat and grease escape from the food. I have found that the George Foreman grill cooks food really evenly and it also cooks it thoroughly. I regularly cook steak on the grill and it is the best way for me.
Most foods cook well on this but fish cooks great on there, both me and my partner have commented that foods seems to taste that bit better, I also season the food on there and the taste seems to really come through, it is as if the flavours are all trapped inside!
The George Foreman is very easy to clean, the fat needs to be thrown away and then I let the grill call down and then wipe it clean, it is a simple and safe process and saves having to mess around with taking grill plates off or cleaning foil from the grill in my cooker.
In summary, I would have no hesitation in recommending this product. It encourages healthy eating and I think that it is good value for money.
5 out of 5 from me on this one.
Thank you for reading
