Being a student I often buy the lowest priced meat which can be quite fatty. The George Foreman solves this problem with its two grill plates and fat drip tray. Thanks to the George Foreman grill I can cook meat in half the time with fantastic results.
~ Usage ~
I have cooked several different types of food on the grill from burgers to pork chops to cheese toasties. Every time it really hasn't failed, simply turn on and allow it to heat (the light turns off when it is at the highest temperature). The grill means that it is no longer necessary to spend 10 minutes waiting for the grill or frying pan to heat up - furthermore it is so much easier to clean after usage than a conventional grill or frying pan. What is more, thanks to the sloped angle, fat from meat drips down into the tray which you position in front of the grill.
~ Problems ~
The George Foreman grill is fantastic but a few changes could be made in the design of the product. Firstly there is no temperature control on this model meaning that if meat is extremely fatty I have found that it can burn. A solution to this problem I have found is to leave the lid open and flip the meat as if you are cooking on a BBQ. Secondly, the grill plates on this model are also non-removable making cleaning slightly more of a challenge - It can however be steam-cleaned very easily with some wet kitchen paper immediately after usage. (I saw some specially designed sponges online but they seem to be extremely overpriced for a sponge!)
~ Verdict ~
If you are tired of cleaning out the oven after cooking fatty foods, or even enjoy eating toasties cooked to perfection, then this grill could be the perfect product for you. Apart from the small issues above I really cannot fault this product - Well done George!
after purchasing this for £40 i truely believe i got myself a bargain! it includes a really handy drip tray to catch all the nasty fats in things like sausages and burgers. i cook almost everything on mine from sausages, burgers, bacon, chicken and steaks to mushrooms, tomatoes, chips and fish. ive even been known to fry an egg on it! i simply could not live without this its my sandwiche toaster, grill and frying pan all in one, and to get all that for £40 im over the moon! its easy to clean to with wipeabable grill plates and most of the gunk catches in the tray which i simply wipe with kitchen roll. i love the fact this grills and all the fat runs away from your food making it perfect for any healthy eating regime! the grill is available in different portion sizes making it easy to choose which you want. i opted for this 7 portion grill which does hold 7 chicken breast 7 steaks etc. obviously for large gammon steaks or beef steaks you would probably only fit 2 or 3 on.
Got this grill as an xmas present as ive been wanting one for agesss.
It includes a drip tray to catch all the grease and fatty products that come out of pork and sausages and bacon. it definatly makes you think about you are what you eat when all this fat comes out.
Ive cooked steak chicken and pork on this grill and it literally takes about 5 minutes which is brilliant if you just want something quick for tea and also chuck on some tomatoes and peppers and bam your done , one healthy meal served :) it doesnt burn anything which means its cooked all the way through.
The 7 portion grill means obviously you can put 7 portions of food on it and actually you can so when cooking for a mini party it was brilliant it means that your not waiting for things to cook whilst ur other food is getting cold and people are getting hungry.
it isnt very big and only weights 4kg which means in my small kitchen with limited space it fits nice and snug next to the food processor and it is easy to keep clean if you clean it after you use it just with normal sponge and a bit of the good ole fairy washing up liquid.
in regards to price obviously i didnt purchase this but i did see it in argos for half price of £39.99 but now after xmas i believe it may have gone up.
in comet asda tesco it is around £37-£39 and i assume it can be purchased in most electrical places
