Advantages: looks great
Disadvantages: cant cook
this is definitely a product which screams style over substance. and i for one was completely taken in.
it looks fantastic - i have it 3 years now and it still looks great (apart from the wooden sides which can hardly be expected to stand up to an irish winter (or summer for that matter - we had 57 consectutive days of rain since mid july this year - lovely!).
however from a practical perspective it is totally rubbish. despite the large grill area the actual area where you can cooks stuff is centered round 2 thin strips on top of both burners. large areas of the grill are totally useless.
i also had problems with the 2 knobs for regulating the gas, both of which stopped working - they seems to erode and lose traction against the brass turner on which they sit. outback were very conssitent in their response to these problems. they just ignored every email i sent. and all i wanted was a new knob! totally rubbuish customer support. and the store where i bought it didnt want to know - referred me back to outback.
my brother also bought one, despite my warnings - as he is a shallow as me and just wanted something to look good - he now gives out bucketloads about his as well.
if you want style over substance and dont really care about bbq buy one. otherwise avoid.
Summary: style over substance
