Revolution Fish Grill
Advantages: perfect fish on the BBQ
My husband is a big BBQ fanatic, we just need a hint of sun and he is firing up the BBQ to cook the dinner on. He was brought up in South Africa where BBQing is commonplace so I guess that this is why.
Last year I bought him some decent BBQing tools, and this Revolution Fish Grill was one of the many items that I bought. The reason I chose the fish grill is that although my husband does like to do chargrilled fish on the BBQ, I absolutely hate fish and so he was never allowed to do fish on the BBQ because of my fear of cross contamination.
Although this is primarily designed to hold fish, it will also hold meat such as steaks, pork steaks, chicken breasts etc. We have used this for both fish and meat with no problems at all. I especially like the fact that by keeping the fish contained within the fish grill it doesn't touch or contaminate any other foods and so we can now do a selection of meat and fish on our BBQ. Most fish appears to be quite tender and seems to fall apart quite easily, by keeping the fish 'trapped' in the fish grill it eliminates this problem when BBQing fish, the whole fillet of fish stays in one piece whilst cooking.
This fish grill is really easy to use, just pop the fish or the meat inside the tray, close the other side of the tray, 'the lid' I guess, close the little fastening catch and then it's good to go. Just place the rack on the BBQ and then turn the whole rack when you want to turn fish or meat and cook the other side. My husband does chargrilled salmon the most frequently using the fish grill, and I know from cooking this under the grill for him myself how tender this is and how easily it can fall apart. Not so when cooked in the fish grill, it turns out perfectly, and it stays in one piece.
The fish grill has a long soft grip handle, which providing you keep the handle away from the hot coals on the BBQ does stay cool enough to handle and touch. The handle does have a hanging hole for easy storage, we just hang it from the hooks on the side of our BBQ when not in use.
The fish grill is dishwasher safe, I always put ours in the dishwasher after each use, I have to say though that it doesn't always come up perfectly clean, depending on how dirty it was. Sometimes it does need another go around in the dishwasher to come up completely clean.
I would absolutely reccomend this fish grill to anyone, we bought ours from a local garden centre, and I think that it was around £10.00. Ours has had lots of use, well as much use as a British summer will allow!, and it will certainly continue to get lots more use. An absolutely brilliant buy, especially as it has solved my cross contamination fears!
