Advantages: Ok if you want one quick beefburger|||

Disadvantages: dangerous and over too quickly

One fateful day last summer we held a neighbourhood BBQ.
We took our small portable BBQ out onto the communal drive and placed in what we thought was a suitable location.
I admit the branches of a tree did overhang about 4ft above.
We used for the first time Sainsburys instant charcoal. The one where you simply light the paper bag. The flames shot up instantly. We shouted to all the children to keep clear, and simply watched in horror as the flames reached the branches. Within a few minutes the crisis was over and it glowed readily for the food. Getting close enough to it put the food on was difficult as the heat was intense. The food was cooked within minutes of lighting it.
We were the laughing stock of our neighbours, as while they sipped their wine waiting for their BBQ to be ready for cooking our evening was done and dusted. Bang, wham, thank you mam so to speak.
The tree lost some branches and the brickwork never recovered
A very dangerous and short lived BBQ. OK if youre in a hurry!!! but more of a bonfire than a barbeque.
