There are numerous bars in oslo. I haven't been to them all but I can recommend the ones iIve frequented. they're mainly "so what", "Paragrafen" and "Blå". The first two are dark, tiny places where you go to listen to old and new indierock, and alternative guitar schwing. "Blå" is a so called "hip and trendy" with dj's playing on saturday nights unless they have live bands, which they do quite often (on weekdays aswell). Most of the bands playing this venue are Norwegian up-and-comming/established bands, but few are mainstream really. You'll be likely to hear jazz and Norwegian hiphop here, but not any lo-fi guitar stuff. If you're into that I'll recommend "so what" (again). They put up gigs with Nor. and international indie bands. Bands that are too small for the big venues. "John Dee" is also a good place for underground bands, but they tend to be slightly more mainstream. Summary: |
