Advantages: Cheap!! Very!!, Underground at its best!, Different from any bars that you'll find in Western Europe.
Disadvantages: Tourists!! Far too many! Far too loud!
Prague is definately heading to be Europe's next metrolpolitan. A country in central Europe, an old communist regime, but growing in attraction. The reason for its popularity, I guess, is the inexpensive lifestyle and the beauty of its architecture and greenary. All come with a back side. The tourists are always there to invade every traditional bar or club. The tourists carrying around their Travellers guide, the Lonely Planet or whatever, leading them all to the same place. After three days in Prague of absolute hell when discovering that the only culture I bumped in to was either English, American, French or German, I was fed up. I thew away my guide book and decided to be adventurous. Hopped on the first tram that crossed my path (which happened to be tram number 5)I left the center of the beauty and made my way out to the suburbs. Seeing a cute red and yellow building, not knowing where the hell I was, I jumped off and took the first right into the quarters where no tourists were to be found. Two blocks, a left and then a right. The bar was standing right infront of me like a gids gift from heaven. Beers five times cheaper then in the center of Prague, bartenders that hardly spoke a word of English, and a huge cave that led me straight into the real nightlife of Prague, the nightlife that is hidden from all commercial and tourist exposure. "AKROPOLIS" So my advice is for you to get out of the center. Take an adventure. Don't be scared. You'll end up finding the treasure of Prague where you least expect it to be.
