Advantages: Friendly Atmosphere, Everyone Speaks English, English Football
Disadvantages: Expensive
You would think that having visited Stockholm several times including 2 weekend-ers I would be able to comment on the sights and attractions. But no. All the times I visited Stockholm I either a) Worked or b) Got s**t faced!! Sad but True. Despite my alcoholic bliss I have managed to recall some of the bars that I visited during my business trips/beer fests! There are many bars in Stockholm and believe me they are heaving at the weekends. But make sure you have your cash card handy (or your company credit card) because Sweden is not known for it's cheap beer. Some bars are very exclusive (another word for expensive in my book) and some down to earth (i.e. dumps). Drinking in Stockholm can be a crazy affair with some bars looking great outside and not so great inside. But the best thing is that everyone in Sweden speaks English. So you'll have no problem ordering your 10th pint and all you can speak to jibberish. In all the times I was lucky enough to blag a trip to Stockholm on my company I went to the same bar. It's busy, noisy, expensive, crowded, exciting and bloody great fun. The name is "Dubliners" - And you've guessed it, it's an Irish pub. Most nights they have live music (of the irish persuasion) and show Premiership football (the English persuasion - although many Swede's support Arsenal due to the Swedish connection). I have met some fantastic people in there and despite sometimes being on my own have always ended knowing half the bar by the time I left and leaving with half a dozen phone numbers. For the men, the women are gorgeous (although I fear alcohol may have had a helping hand in this) and for the women - well, they serve wine and I'm sure the men aren't too bad). The evenings normally start off fairly quietly and with many eating some of the top grub available. By around 11pm the music gets going and by 2 you can expect the majority of the bar to be sin
ging, dancing on tables and falling over. Apparently the bar does close although I have never managed to see it........across the road is Club Europa. You can party till dawn and then head home with an almighty hangover (or in my case into the office). It's simply a great place and I would go back to Stockholm just to visit Dubliners again. Unfortunately I no longer work for the company who used to send me out there. So if anyone is visiting Stockholm soon and needs a drinking partner....let me know! Lastly - the official website for Dubliners = http://www.dubliner.se/ (aren't I too good to you!)

hitme100 - 11.04.02 Am quite perplexed as many people have said that swedish women are the bes looking in the world.
But I guess that because I'm Swedish I'm used to it and haven't ever noticed it.
God I love being a swede. |
