Advantages: Quiet, good hot dogs

Disadvantages: Expensive, not much going on

I give English lessons in Warsaw and although most of them take place at my home, some take place in offices and I occasionally meet in cafe's, pubs and outdoor venues.

Recently I've been giving lessons in the southern part of the city - Ursynow. Specifically at Brit Cafe, which is a small cafe in the shopping mall - Galeria Ursynow, located above the metro station "Natolin", as far as shopping malls go this one has to be one of the newest and quietest ones in the world. Everything is shiny and clean and the shops look like they are only made for window shopping, there is quite a wide range of malls available to the middle of the day shopping type woman but this does still bring in some local custom.

Brit Cafe on the top floor is ran by a "designer punk", that is.. he has the hair (various small coloured mohawks pointing out in different angles of his head) and some union jack trousers but generally not the attitude. He does seem to like his punk though, as he's plastered the wall of this every day cafeteria with old articles about bands like The Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop & The Stooges and Richard Hell & The Voidoids.

It looks a little out of place, in a modern cafe which tends to attract the odd socialite but mostly just girls working in near by shops or business types looking for a business lunch. The prices are quite on the high side, only half of the menu is generally available and the only thing it's really going for it is the large plasma screen and the friendly staff. In fact, I only go there because it is quiet and easy to give a lesson there.

Unless you live nearby (this is a part of the city that has a high proportion of rich foreigners - in particular British, Dutch, Americans and Indians), there's very little reason to go there. The nearest point of interest is the Kabacki Forest one metro station away at the end of the line.

It is open from about 10am to 10 or 11pm.

Summary: Not too bad but out of the way
