A lot of the traditional family-run coffee houses in Vienna have been threatened following the influx of Starbucks - since November 2001 there have been a total of 6 Starbucks branches opening in Vienna, and sadly Starbucks looks like being here to stay in Vienna. Sperl, being tucked away on Gumpendorferstraße (about five minutes walk from the lower end of Mariahilferstraße and two minutes walk from the Wienzeile, which borders the Naschmarkt) is unlikely to suffer from the presence of Starbucks a mere 150m away around the corner on Theobaldgasse.
