Ghirardellis is a chocolate lover's dream whether you are 5 or 50. As you enter the shop, which is located next to Water Tower Place on Magnificent Mile (Michican Avenue), you are welcomed by friendly staff who hand you a sample of their range of chocolates, this is a lovely touch and encourages you to sample other delights.

The shop is an upscale version of Thorntons and has combinations of chocolate and ice cream that you have only dreamed of. I sampled one of their 'sublime sundaes' and was not disappointed! The Cookie Bottom Sundae is delicious with hot fudge sauce lavishly poured over delicious vanilla ice cream served with cookies and topped with nuts!

Ghirardellis offers more than just varieties of chocolate and ice cream . You can buy recipe books and great little gadgets for the kitchen. It also has coffees from all over the world and other treats like chocolate covered strawberries.

The chocolate shop is located in the shopping centre of Chicago, Michigan Avenue; which is also known as Magnificent Mile. It is across from Ralph Lauren and the Ritz-Cartlon. The quality of the surrounding retailers and the beautiful buildings reflects back on the luxury and quality of Ghirardellis.

We sat in the terrace just outside the shop where we enjoyed our sundaes and people watched. I don't think you can beat a delicious chocolatey treat in the most fabulous section of a fantastic city.

Summary: An indulgent shop to try some delicious chocolate, but you have to be in Chicago!
