Hell Hunt is a bar in Tallinn, located above the port and just off the Old Town square. Often the first and last stop for visiting Finns and Swedes. The pub is generally open 24hrs but does occasionally close between 5 and 8, if the place is empty.
Hell Hunt has a bit of a history for a few reasons, it was the first bar to be set up after the Soviet Occupation in Tallinn (possibly the whole of Estonia), it is called Hell Hunt (which is not the English meaning but the Estonian for "gentle wolf") and uses the logo of a werewolf due to the fact Estonians (as many of the Baltic nations and Finland) used to have a strong belief in werewolfs. Several were taken to court and charged in fact, (their wolfskins were supposedly hidden under rocks) and it was believed that a pack of them ran freely in the Vastemoisa region of the country until the end of the 17th century.
Add to this a Scottish barman called Paul who has been working in Estonia and Russia (at one point as a logger) for the best part of 20 years and has turned down far more lucrative positions to remain in his beloved Estonia an extremely friendly chap who will ply you with free drinks (as will most of the staff)
Hell Hunt is a complete mix of mostly Estonian students, Russians, British, Swedish, Finnish and anyone else who might be in town. Most of the tourists don't find it though and just stay in Molly mallone's (the Irish pub). The pub does great food, plays very good music, has a great selection of drinks at a good price and overall is the best pub I've been to in Estonia. They also serve guinness, the pub's own dark and light beer which is very tasty, it's unpretentious and easy going.
It always has a friendly feeling to it, many years ago I arrived in Tallinn too late to change traveller's cheques and without a bank card and they gave me a night full of free drinks, a meal and let me kip up in the attic which is laid out with several sofas for staff and members of the public who are to drunk to leave! The next morning I was able to change the traveller's cheques but they wouldn't take any money for it, this paid off as I went back to the bar, the next few times I visited the city, recommended it to various people and am now recommending it here
A great pub with amiable staff, good food and a friendly crowd (albeit complete drunkenness from the Swedes in particular who get destroyed on liquor (quite a sight due to the fact the majority can barely handle 3 beers)
Summary: Go there!
