      Very helpful

It may be Small but it's the place to go at the end of the night

I've visted Tenerife twice and on both occasions I ventured to severl bars and nightclubs, all varying in prices, music and atmosphere. The area of Tenerife I went to was Playa de las Americas which is reknowned as being the part of Tenerife for young people to come and party in the vast range of bars and clubs. For those of you who have been to Las Americas, you will probably be aware of the main area where all the bars & clubs are, the majority are located in the Starco and Veronicas area where you will also find clubs such as 'Tramps'.

'Rags' nightclub is located just a few bars along from 'Tramps' and on appearance it seems very small and the yellow & pink illumionus lighting around the bar front gives it a bit of a "Blackpool Look". I automatically assumed it was one of the tackier bars and since I could only see one or two people actually in it, it seemed it wasn't that popular either. That was at around 10pm when I first walked by. Later on in the night at around 3am after I'd been in a few other clubs and I was walking back past 'Rags' I was stunned to see it was now very busy with a much better atmosphere than it had earlier in the night.

Over the course of my holiday I gathered that this was definetely an "end of the night" club that people tend to venture too after they have been everywhere else. After all it is open to 6am so it's very appealing when all of the other bars have closed for the night.

Inside, the bar is really nothing special and doesn't have much to write home about. Just a basic terrace bar with limited seating and a small outdoor area with picnic style tables. There is a an area inside with a dancefloor, podiums and poles for dancing on and it is very dark in there. I didn't really go in there much, people tended to hang around more outside. But it did sometimes get quite busy so people would spill inside to where the dancefloor is, it sometimes got very hot in there!

The music they play varies from funky house to R 'n' B, you will probably find that it is mostly R 'n' B later on in the night at peak time. The prices aren't great, I think they have taken advantage of the fact that they are one of the few bars that stays open after hours so they charge quite a bit for drinks. A cocktail is roughly 6 or 7 euros and a pint 4 euros, so you'' be skinted quite quickly! There are 'Rags' promotional staff out on the streets who sometimes have good offers for you, for example one girl got us to pay 20 euros and that got us as many drinks as we wanted until 3am - so basically all we could drink for 20 euros. That did mean that we mostly had to stay in that one bar all night though, so they aren't stupid - very cleverly thought out promotions!

With 'Rags' nightclub I'd say don't go on first appearances or judge a book by its cover. It isn't as tacky or dead as it looks, but be careful not to spend too much money there at the end of the night on their pricey drinks!
