Advantages: Very unique setting, cheap drinks
Disadvantages: Its small but then it would ruin it if it was bigger
Whilst on holiday in Prague me and my girlfriend stopped for a coffee in a very unusual place. This was the Tram Café in the far end of Wenceslas Square.
The Tram Café.
The tram café is as I stated in the far end of Wensleslas Square in the City of Prague.
This was in easy reach of our apartment and is very central to all the attractions and shopping within the City of Prague.
The Trams were the original trams used in the City with one being borrowed from a museum and the other being rescued from the scrap heap. The car number 11 was carefully renovated and car number 1429 was borrowed from the museum.
The café sells various drinks both hot and cold and these range from wines, spirits, hot drinks such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate and a traditional Prague drink of Mulled wine. They also sell warm fruit jucies such as warm pear and warm apple. My girfriend tried the warm pear and I can vouch for the fact that it tasted beautiful and certainly warmed us up!
The inside of the Tram Café is very tiny and a little cramped but this adds to the feel of quaintness that you feel when you walk in.
The cold air outside is lost as you walk through the curtain door entrance and it is very warm inside.
You can then chose from about a dozen tables inside ,some ranging from small 2 person tables to 4 person tabled areas.
The service was very good and very courteous.
The adjoining tram car is were you will find the toilets and the Bar/ kitchen area.
This kitchen serves foods such as pizzas and also apple pies from the small dessert menu.
Most dishes cost about 120 krony which is about 2 pounds for a pizza and about a pound for a dessert.
The entrance to the Tram Café is not suitable for disabled persons ,so it is very difficult for you to gain entry. In the summer months they have an outdoor seating area adjacent to the Trams. All in all our little visit to the Tram café was enjoyable and was a very nice stop on our walk around Prague.
Summary: You must visit this place if you're in Prague
