Advantages: Always something going on, nearly always open, good location

Disadvantages: Bit pricier than some pubs

Zielona Ges, is a pub in Warsaw by a large park (Pole Mokotowskie) relatively close to the center of the city. You can reach it by taking the Metro or Tram 33, 17, 16, 10 to Metro Pole Mokotowskie, you will see the pub on the left with seats outside.

The translation of the name is: Green Goose, it's a pub in an old saloon style with a jazzy interior. Initially it looks a bit of a tacky pub attracting big blokes and girls with a lot of make-up on but whether it's just music playing on the radio, karaoke, a live concert or sitting outside in the sun, I've always had a great deal of fun there.

It's not the cheapest pub in Warsaw at 8zl (2 quid) a beer but most pubs are quickly catching up on the prices and the entertainment on offer generally makes it worthwhile. It's undoubtedly one of the best karaoke pubs in the city that offers a very wide choice of English and Polish songs.

I witnessed it's 5th anniversary and actually won a DVD player in a raffle there, so I've definitely made my money back! The anniversary party was superb as they offered 0.5l of beer for 1zl (25p) for about 6 hours. It's needless to say I had some problems carrying the DVD player home after that night!

All in all, a decent pub that always has something going on in a superb location and right next to a very nice park (in the summer at least), also has very roomy toilets should you want to go ball room dancing whilst waiting for a wazz.

It does get busy, so it may be worth your while booking a table if you don't want to stand.

Opening hours: 9am until the last guest leaves

Street Address: Al. Niepodlegosci 177
Web Address: www.zielonages.pl (also in English)

Summary: Definitely worth a visit if you want entertainment!
