Lynx Apollo Shower Gel
by chris018
** First off I would like to say that this product will not guarantee you will be swarmed by 1000 women on a desert island all vying to taking off your clothes. **
The product itself is one of my favourites. I have very sensitive skin and actually have had a lot of trouble trying to find a shower gel that doesn't irritate my ... skin and to my surprise lynx actually doesn't dry my skin at all. The gel is provides a very good clean, it lathers well in the hand and on cleaning mitts meaning a little bit goes a long way which means it is very cheap and lasts a long time, even if it could come in a slightly larger size. As the for fragrance, I personally really like it, it stays on the body allowing to smell fresh all day. The smell isn't overpowering, just pleasant and you really do feel cleansed after using the gel. It is much of a muchness compared to other lynx shower gels which I would also recommend highly as they do get the job done and are very good value for money. One other key thing I had found in my use of the gel is that it also does give a good clean as a shampoo aswell and a shower gel and therefore could be used temporarily if you do run out of shampoo but it maybe a bit to drying long term.
All in all I would highly recommend the gel! Read the complete review |

***WHY MATEY ?***
I got roped into child minding recently, and although it is a day time only situation I occasionally give their mum the option of leaving them with me over tea time, allowing her to go straight home & catch up on housework etc unencumbered by two toddlers.
So that means not only feeding them ,but bathing and getting them into nightwear so that they just need picked up, transported home and straight to bed with a story.
However, apparently our bubble bath from avon is just not suitable for their tiny tastes because it smells of "grown-ups" , and so their mum dropped off a bottle of MATEY for me to use.
***USING***
It comes in a really cute plastic bottle which is shaped like a sailor figure/cabin boy complete with white hat bottle-top, and the liquid itself smells sweet and fruity. The kind of aroma that appeals to children.
Two capfuls are recommended for lots of bubbles ,but I just use one because with two bodies going in there I don't fill the bath that much anyway.
You just tip the capful under the running water and the result is lots of frothy foam and happy smiley children keen to get in there.
This bubble bath suits me really well, because I just sit on the laundry bin supervising and leave them to their fun with rubber toys, sponges and splashing for ten minutes, letting the warm soapy water and bubbles do their work while the kids play (I call this the pre-wash cycle) ,then I take over and wash all their nooks and crannies and shampoo their hair and the job is done.
Even though it has been splashed into eyes it hasn't seemed to bother either child that much. I just step in with a wash cloth rinsed in cold clear water & off they go again.
***MY OPINION***
Since using this I've been aware of it in TESCO and noted it comes in different 'characters',all based around the sea and they all have proper names. Ours is called Max apparently.
I can see the appeal of this to children .With such character based bottles, lots of bubbles and then using a smell reminiscent of a sweet shop they hit their target market really well in my opinion, but most importantly it helps soak away a day of play and is kind to their skins causing no nasty reaction. Also ,at around the £2 mark for a bottle it isn't a scary price in the least.
Would I recommend it ? Yes,definitely. I don't think bath times would be the same fun experience without it,and I like to end their day on a positive note when I've kept them over . That way their mum collects two happy but pristine little people when she calls for them. Win win.
I hope this review was helpful and thank you for reading~~~myloh. Read the complete review |

Avon Naturals Kids Outgoing Orange Body Paint
by cha97mw
My nextdoor neighbour is an avon rep, and she is also a lovely woman who always acknowledges my childrens birthdays and Christmas with a small gift, usually containing some current childrens products from the Avon catalogue.
Last Christmas, both boys received one of these body paints in their good bags. I was a bit put off at ... first by the idea of body paint. Firstly, my youngest son has eczema, and although he doesn't suffer awfully, some products do leave his skin really dry and itchy. Secondly, it is called outgoing orange body paint, so in my head I built it up to be this product that would be bright in colour and end up staining my bath and I would be needing to scrub to get rid of it after bath time. Because of my niggly worries, I must admit to making them wait quite a while before trying out this product.
The product packaging reminds me of a bottle of roll on deoderant. Take off the white cap, and you reveal a roller ball to apply the product to the body. The packaging is a little dull looking in my opinion, being mainly white apart from the orange label featuring a picture of a cartoon orange with a face. A 50ml bottle costs £2.50, though this is currently for sale in the catalogue at half this price. Avon prices do vary hugely so its worth waiting for a price drop in my opinion.
I hadn't realised at first that this is really a soap based product, not a paint at all. So when my kids put this on in the bath, all they are doing is putting their body wash on in a new and fun way. With having two bottles of this, one for each boy, something I have noticed is that one of the bottles works much better than the other at allowing the product to be dispensed. One is definitely very watery and a weaker colour.
The colour to this product is a weak orange anyway, no where near as bright as I thought, and has a slight fruity scent to it. I think it looks much like any other shower gel, and acts in a similar way. The roller balls are much better to use on wet skin. Otherwise I think the roller ball has the tendency to dry out a bit. Although you can't submerge these bottles in the water, I do sometimes dip the roller ball end into the bath water to warm it up and lubricate it so that it does not drag across my childrens skin, and the product is dispensed more easily, but these little tricks have not made one bottle work as well as the other one.
Another problem is my children are at an age where artistically they are quite capable of drawing many things with art supplies, but if they were to try and draw anything with this thick roller ball, the best they can come up with is large circles or stripes. It is not fine enough to do anything else, so it doesn't take long before their canvas (usually tummies and arms and legs) are full.
From reading reviews on the avon website, all the customers who left reviews found this product to be a bit of a disappointment in terms of a body paint for bathtime due to the packaging like me, and the low level of colour.
On the positive side, my children do enjoy playing with this. It is a good way to speed up bathtime when they are so willing to get on and apply the body wash, and they don't seem overly bothered about the insipid colour. I am also really pleased that this has not been drying or irritating in any way to my sons skin.
I think it is a good product idea, but the actual product and packaging are not that well thought out. I can't see this one being about that long if no-one wants to repeat the purchase of it. Read the complete review |
