Asda Smart Price Shower Gel
by cariad54
---Why I brought this product---
I went on a charity challenge on how to survive on £1 a day for two weeks including food, toiletries, the lot, so everything I brought went on a tight budget. So that is why I brought this Asda Smart Price Shower Gel, because it was cheap and has 300ml per bottle, and because I trust Asda's Chosen by ... You range, so I thought that the Smart Price range would be ideal for my purse and keeping me clean during the challenge.
---Image---
This clear plastic bottle is rectangler and holds an apple green colour liquid inside. It has a simple white sticker stuck on the front with the Asda Smart Price logo. It also has a white plastic flip cap that allows the bottle to stand on it's head to get the last bit out.
---Smell---
The smell, well, I never smelled anything like it. This green liquid smells like Shrek's shower gel that's been given to him as a gift. Seriously, it smells like a cleaning product for dirty kitchens, and I rather only use this product when I've been playing in the muddiest places.
---How it works/ What it does---
You run your shower, you wet your body and lather shower gel into your skin to cleanse the dirt and sweat from what your skin's built up. However, after the first use, it was harsh on my skin, making me feel really itchy and after continued use, for about a week, it got worse and my skin's not even sensitive. I refused to continue with this shower gel and changed it after I found another cheap alternative for my budget challenge.
---Overall---
I personally would not buy this again and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone especially if they have sensitive or fragile skin. I rather go a week with one meal a day and use an alternative product during the challenge than use this and make me itch as if I have nits in my skin.
This product is an Asda own range so can only be brought at Asda and costs 30p for 300ml.

Asda Kids Cherry Bubble Bath
by hopey123
This is what I recently purchased in Asda'a but the picture displaying is an incorrect one. Asda's cheeky cherry childrens bubble bath, but no reason why is adults can't use it also lol.
This bubble bath can be found in the asda bath stuff section along with the other childrens bubble baths next to adult section. It is in a ... clear bottle which looks red as the actual bubble bath is a bright red colour. It has a picture of a blue whale on the front called Wally whale. It has a red top with a easy to open flip top lid allowing it to be squited into bath rather then poured.
It costs just £1 and lasts approximately 4-6 weeks in our house with two children. The bottle holds 500ml.
To use this you simply pour some under running warm water into the bath. It straight away starts building up some foamy bubbles in the bath but I tend to also swill my hand about in the water to cause more bubbles as that's the fun up a bubble bath having lots of bubbles and I feel without using half a bottle of this at a time it doesn't give to many bubbles.
The cherry scent of this is very nice when you smell it in the bottle. Once the bath is run the scent is just about there not so strong smelling, I do notice the smell of it lingering in the air though if I go into the bathroom later on after bath time has ended.
Asda provide a 100% satisfaction policy where if you aren't 100% happy with the product then you get a full refund or replacement. I don't think me taking an empty bottle to them as saying the kids used it too quick will count though.
This product can be used upto 24 months after opening, Like it's going to stay in my house that long lol. It is also suitable for vegetarians which I've never noticed on a non food product before.
For the price I feel this is fine for the kids to have in their bath. Read the complete review |

ASDA Lime and Lemongrass Shower Gel
by jeffjen
I have been quite a fan of Dove products when I purchase shower gel or body wash, but sometime last year I picked up a bottle of Original Source Lime shower gel and fell in love with it. I had been aware of Original Source shower gels and had tried some of them before, but Dove was still my favourite until I spotted the Lime Original ... Source shower gel. I love citrus fragranced bath and shower products and lime is my favourite citrus fragrance but it isn't something you see too often. Therefore I have stocked up on Lime Original Source whenever it has been on promotion and not found anything else which has came close to how much I love it, until last month...
I was shopping in Asda and needed some toiletries, including shower gel. They had my favourite Original Source Lime shower gel in stock but it is quite expensive when not on promotion and I am trying to make some savings when I can on my shopping, so I began browsing all the other shower gels on the shelves and quickly spotted this Lime and Lemongrass shower gel.
I think it was the striking lime coloured gel which made this product stand out, just as the Original Source shower gel does and I picked a bottle up for a closer look.
The shower gel is part of the Asda own brand range and so is reasonably priced at just 95p a bottle.
I decided to flip open the cap and a lovely lime fragrance which reminded me of my favourite Original Source shower gel was released. The strong lime scent appealed to me instantly and I decided there and then that I wanted to try this shower gel and so bought a bottle.
The scent reminded me of the Lime sweets you find in a packet of Starburst which is exactly what I thought about the Original Source product the first time I smelled the product. The difference here is that this shower gel is also meant to smell of Lemongrass too, although all I could personally smell was lime. Also the Original Source product is said to contain 40 limes in just one bottle of shower gel and this Asda product only states it contains extracts of Lime and Lemongrass but does not state how much.
Indeed Asda describe their Lime and Lemongrass shower gel as "Suitable for vegetarians, Lime and Lemongrass shower gel Zing! With splashes of mouth-watering lime and lemongrass natural extracts, our burst of seriously citrusy scents will start your day with a bang".
I could honestly not really find much difference between this Asda brand shower gel and Original Source, except that maybe Original Source smells a little stronger of limes but this Asda product was still more than adequate in the fragrance department.
I like to have a shower every morning and some mornings I feel quite tired before going to work and have found using a citrus based shower gel to be quite refreshing. I find it does really help to wake me up and start my day.
The gel is an illuminous looking green and smooth in consistency. It lathers up really well on my shower scrunchie, so I don't have to use a lot. I particularly love its lime scent (I am not sure I can detect any Lemongrass scent) and the fresh invigorating feel I get from using it.
The scent of limes remains on my skin for a little while after rinsing and drying and my skin is thoroughly cleansed. Also it doesn't seem to dry out my skin either so I can find nothing to complain about. The fact I find it so invigorating is a bonus for me and it is just the thing I need to get me going, especially on dark winter mornings.
Although it doesn't dry out my skin, I wouldn't say it moisturises your skin in the way some Dove products do, but I do use a moisturiser on my skin anyway. This is really more of a gel that wakes and refreshes you, enabling you to feel ready to start your day. I think it would be ideal to use when showering after taking part in sporting activities, such as gym sessions, running or swimming and also on hot days during warmer months or on holiday abroad.
Whilst I do think that Original Source Lime shower gel smells a little stronger than this and so the scent remains on your skin slightly longer too, I cannot really find any fault with this Asda Lime and Lemongrass shower gel, other than I cannot really detect any Lemongrass scent, but that does not bother me at all.
At 95p per bottle it is a great alternative to Original Source and I will certainly be buying this again. Read the complete review |
