Avon Senses Tropics Shower Gel
by emmad5689
I really love the senses range from Avon and I always make sure I stock up when it is on offer, I really love nicely scented things and I will often change my shower gels when I get fed up of the same scent meaning I have a cupboard full of half bottles.
The senses range is one of Avon's own so you can only buy it directly ... from their website or from one of their representatives, you should be aware there is a delivery charge on the website unless you spend over £20. The senses shower gels come in 2 sizes, there is a 250ml bottle for £2 and a £500ml bottle for £3, this fragrance seems to have been discontinued at present however they do seem to be rereleased every now and again and I certainly hope this one is.
I love all the bright colours and smells of the senses range and the Tropics option is no different, it comes in a clear sleek bottle so you can see the lime green shower gel inside. On the front of the bottle it states that it is stimulating and exotic which sounds nice to me! On the back of the bottle you have the directions for use although they are simply "lather and rinse."
The product inside is dispensed through the lime green flip top lid which opens from the side and reveals a largish hole in the top, the smell to me is really fruity and certainly has the scent of citrus fruits involved. The liquid is nice and thick so you don't need to use much, it does lather up well especially on a shower puff which is how I use it and not much is required, the shower gel also washes of the skin really easily too.
So my only gripes with the product, the smell doesn't last on your body much after getting dry although I do find the smell quite awakening whilst in the shower, my skin feels nice ands soft after using this product which is lovely and I feel really refreshed.
I really love this shower gel and think the smell is gorgeous, I love the smell that much that I also used to use the matching body scrub on my elbows and knees to help soften the skin but they seem to have stopped making that one too. I would give this 5 stars as it is a lovely product which leaves your skin feeling lovely. Read the complete review |

Avon Senses Mystique Shower Gel
by emmad5689
I love things that smell nice and have a cupboard full of shower gels yet if I see them on offer I will always buy more, the senses range which is one of my favourites is from Avon. You can buy the shower gel from Avon's website or from one of their representatives and a 500ml bottle usually costs £3.
A few months ago Avon ... had these shower gels along with a few other products on offer at 5 for £5 so I stocked up as of course that made it £1 per bottle which I think is a decent price.
The product comes in a see through plastic bottle with a bright pink flip top lid on it, as the bottle is see through you can see the bright pink product inside and I love the vivid colour. The shower gel is described as sensual and romantic, I personally think it is a very floral scent and feel that I can smell roses in it.
To use the product simply open the flip top lid which is pretty stiff to start with and squeeze a blob of the product into the palm of your hand, the product is pretty thick so the bottle does need a squeezed to dispense it. The product needs to be lathered up either directly onto wet skin or using a sponge or shower puff, I personally use a shower puff as it exfoliates the skin but also seems to make shower gel last longer.
The shower gel lathers up really nicely and I only need about a 10p sized blob to wash my whole body and even then there is plenty of lather left in the puff. The shower gel rinses off my skin really easily and I have found that it leaves my skin feeling nice and soft. I have issues with the skin on my hands and have not found this aggravating in any way and have found that the scent stays lightly on my skin after drying.
I love this shower gel and love the whole range and have pretty much tried them all now, I tend to prefer the fruity scented ones than the floral scented so rate this one 4 stars from 5 as it is not my favourite in the range . Read the complete review |

Avon Naturals Kids Outgoing Orange Body Paint
by cha97mw
My nextdoor neighbour is an avon rep, and she is also a lovely woman who always acknowledges my childrens birthdays and Christmas with a small gift, usually containing some current childrens products from the Avon catalogue.
Last Christmas, both boys received one of these body paints in their good bags. I was a bit put off at ... first by the idea of body paint. Firstly, my youngest son has eczema, and although he doesn't suffer awfully, some products do leave his skin really dry and itchy. Secondly, it is called outgoing orange body paint, so in my head I built it up to be this product that would be bright in colour and end up staining my bath and I would be needing to scrub to get rid of it after bath time. Because of my niggly worries, I must admit to making them wait quite a while before trying out this product.
The product packaging reminds me of a bottle of roll on deoderant. Take off the white cap, and you reveal a roller ball to apply the product to the body. The packaging is a little dull looking in my opinion, being mainly white apart from the orange label featuring a picture of a cartoon orange with a face. A 50ml bottle costs £2.50, though this is currently for sale in the catalogue at half this price. Avon prices do vary hugely so its worth waiting for a price drop in my opinion.
I hadn't realised at first that this is really a soap based product, not a paint at all. So when my kids put this on in the bath, all they are doing is putting their body wash on in a new and fun way. With having two bottles of this, one for each boy, something I have noticed is that one of the bottles works much better than the other at allowing the product to be dispensed. One is definitely very watery and a weaker colour.
The colour to this product is a weak orange anyway, no where near as bright as I thought, and has a slight fruity scent to it. I think it looks much like any other shower gel, and acts in a similar way. The roller balls are much better to use on wet skin. Otherwise I think the roller ball has the tendency to dry out a bit. Although you can't submerge these bottles in the water, I do sometimes dip the roller ball end into the bath water to warm it up and lubricate it so that it does not drag across my childrens skin, and the product is dispensed more easily, but these little tricks have not made one bottle work as well as the other one.
Another problem is my children are at an age where artistically they are quite capable of drawing many things with art supplies, but if they were to try and draw anything with this thick roller ball, the best they can come up with is large circles or stripes. It is not fine enough to do anything else, so it doesn't take long before their canvas (usually tummies and arms and legs) are full.
From reading reviews on the avon website, all the customers who left reviews found this product to be a bit of a disappointment in terms of a body paint for bathtime due to the packaging like me, and the low level of colour.
On the positive side, my children do enjoy playing with this. It is a good way to speed up bathtime when they are so willing to get on and apply the body wash, and they don't seem overly bothered about the insipid colour. I am also really pleased that this has not been drying or irritating in any way to my sons skin.
I think it is a good product idea, but the actual product and packaging are not that well thought out. I can't see this one being about that long if no-one wants to repeat the purchase of it. Read the complete review |
