Avon Senses Waterfall Liquid Soap
by alyson29
Despite there only being two of us in our household, my husband and I tend to go through a rather large amount of liquid soaps. I cannot admit to being loyal to any brands when it comes to soaps with the exception of the luxurious Imperial Leather bars that I always purchase for bathing. As I consider myself to be a savvy shopper I ... will bulk buy when I see a brand on special offer and will pile at least half a dozen bottles into my shopping trolley much to my husband's horror!
Due to a large number of negative experiences with Avon in the past, I refrained from buying their products for many years. However, over the last twelve months or so, my faith has gradually been restored in the brand due to the high quality of the majority of my purchases. Whilst browsing one of their brochures a couple of months ago, my attention was drawn to the Senses Liquid soap range, which offers a number of different fragrances. Initially being a little sceptical I purchased just one bottle, but due to the fact that it far exceeded my expectations, I ordered a bottle from each of the fragrances with this review discussing my experience with using Waterfall.
The name itself conjures up calming and peaceful thoughts with the image contained on the transparent plastic bottle displaying a tranquil beach adorned with palm trees together with a waterfall flowing into a deep blue sea. The 300 ml of liquid soap is of a vivid blue, which perfectly represents the product name. Whilst the dispensing unit appears to be a little cumbersome, a sufficient amount of the good consistency liquid soap is released with a single press.
I'm generally able to detect specific aromas, but I struggled with this one, as whilst the fragrance is clean and fresh, I was unable to identify any particular scent and I found it rather uninspiring, as it is far too subtle. A quick look on the Avon website informed me that the liquid soap contains both chamomile and witch hazel together with Vitamin E, so the product is clearly suited for all skin types.
On a positive note, only a small amount of the liquid soap is necessary for a thorough hand wash, which rids the skin of any dirt and grime with great ease. The product is easily rinsed away without leaving any sticky residue and I cannot report of suffering any adverse reactions when using, such as dryness. As I had previously used and enjoyed all of the other fragrances within the Senses Liquid Soap brand, I must admit that I was bitterly disappointed with Waterfall, as it severely lacked the level of aroma that was offered by the other fragrances within the range. I like my hand washes to leave their delicate scent on my skin following use and sadly, this hand wash also failed on this aspect.
Avon has clearly considered the packaging design as unlike a few other brands that I've used in the past, the dispenser did not offer any unsightly and messy drips although my grumble is that the unit does not reach to the bottom of the bottle. I feel a three start rating is appropriate for this product due to its fragrance being far too subtle. However, I can recommend the other fragrances within the range. The liquid soap generally retails at £2 per 300 ml bottle, which I think is far too expensive. However, the range is frequently on offer for £1.25 per bottle, but I can't see me buying this particular fragrance again.

Avon Senses Reflections Shower Gel
by alyson29
Whilst I have a few firm favourites when it comes to shower gels, I cannot admit to being loyal to any particular brand. Following my mainly positive experiences with using several fragrances within the Avon Senses hand wash range, I decided to try out one of their shower gels, namely Reflection Peaceful with this review discussing my ... thoughts.
The 250 ml transparent plastic bottle is visually appealing with its purple lid and label displaying a dreamy and tranquil water scene. I generally tend to make purchases of bathing products in high street stores or supermarkets, particularly as I like to be able to take a sniff to see if they are to my liking. However, my decision to purchase this particular shower gel was based solely on the description of the fragrance of oriental orchid and raspberry.
The shower gel is purple coloured, which mirrors the colour of the upper section of the bottle and first impressions were good. I found the lid rather difficult to open, as instead of placing it at the front of the bottle, Avon have provided it on the side where it needs to be flipped open via a fairly small area. This proved to be a problem for me during my first use, as in addition to my hands being wet I struggled to locate the opening section. My husband also found this to be an issue, particularly as he suffers with diabetic related neuropathy, so the tips of his fingers have lost some sensation and as a result, I was called to the bathroom on several occasions to open it for him. Consequently, the lid of the bottle was left permanently opened to enable easy access.
On a positive note, the gel, which offered a good consistency, was easily dispensed onto my net shower puff and when contact was made with water it offered a sufficient lather. I find shower puffs far more favourable than flannels or sponges especially as they allow my products to last much longer and I found that I needed only a small amount of the gel to wash my entire body. The product offered a delicate floral aroma in combination with a slight zestiness although I cannot admit to being able to detect the orchid or raspberry. The gel lather was easily rinsed away without leaving any sticky patches or greasy residue and I cannot report of suffering any issues such as dryness. The delicate scent lingered on my skin for a short while afterwards although it was soon masked when I applied my talcum powder and body moisturiser.
In terms of the abilities of the shower gel, I can make a recommendation, as it served its purpose well, but the design of the bottle needs to be reconsidered, as it is far too awkward and for that reason I will not be making a further purchase. The normal retail price is £2, which I believe to be far too expensive when making a comparison with other brands. However, Avon frequently offers promotions where you can pick up the 250 ml bottle for a pound.
Due to the reasons discussed above, I feel a three star rating is appropriate.

Avon White Lilly Bubble Bath
by lyndsey1989
I have always had my eye on the Avon bubble bath range but never got round to actually buying any. I bought the Strawberry Sorbet version a few weeks ago and I was really pleased with the quality of the product so I decided to treat myself to another bottle when it was still on offer for just £2.50 for a litre bottle. After looking ... through the other fragrances it was easy to settle on white lily because none of the others really appealed to me.
The bottle looks exactly the same as the one shown above. It is in a large clear plastic bottle that has ridges. The fragrance is described on the front of the bottle and it has a nice look to it. There is a white screw cap on the top of the bottle. The bottle certainly isn't one of the prettiest on the market but I do think that the ridged design has its benefits as it allows you to keep a strong grip on the bottle, even with wet hands.
The bubble bath itself is a cream colour and it has a good consistency, it's not too thick but not at all watery. To use you simply pour under running water and then the bubbles will begin to form. I like a lot of bubbles but just a small amount of this is enough. I maybe use a capful at the most. This usually decreases the amount in the bottle by about a third of one of the ridges so it is very long lasting.
The scent is immediately released as soon as I pour the bubble bath. It is a lovely floral scent but it isn't too feminine instead being quite a fresh scent with a subtle kick to it. I would say that this is more of a feminine fragrance but it isn't too girly - my partner will quite happily use this when he has a bath.
The bubbles start forming immediately when I pour it in the bath. The bubbles produced are thick, white and fluffy which catch the light and look very inviting. The bubbles have substance and don't disappear as soon as you touch them.
When in the bath the bubble bath provides a really warm and relaxing fragrance and I find myself immediately unwinding. The scent lasts a long time and it provides a lovely fragrance which is still there an hour or two after letting the water out. The bubbles also remain fluffy and thick for a long time and even when I get out the bath up to an hour later it still looks practically perfect.
I do suffer from sensitive skin but do not have any problems using this. My skin feels soft and supple when I get out of the bath and it has never felt sore or irritated after using it.
I really like this bubble bath and I will undoubtedly be buying it again. It lasts a long time and it is fantastic quality and kind to skin. The scent is lovely and it seems like a much more expensive product than it actually is. Recommended. Read the complete review |
