Radox Herbal Bath Muscle Therapy
by FrostBite
As previously mentioned I am not a bath fan but since moving into the new house I have no choice as there is no shower fitted. I like to have bubbles in the bath and always have since being a child, I don't know why but I hate sitting in a clear bath. I thought I would give Radox a try as this is a well known brand, I chose muscle ... therapy as I run at least three times a week and thought the blend may help to sooth my tired legs.
Radox first started producing salts for a foot bath in 1908 to cool and soothe tired housewives feet, now they are a worldwide brand owned by Unilever. Radox not only produce bubble baths but also shower gels, liquid soaps and deodorants.
This bubble bath is in a clear plastic bottle, measuring 23cm tall with a black screw top lid which is easy to open. I think the slim tall bottle looks very nice on the bath side especially being able to see the deep red gel inside, its a very rich and classy looking colour. The front label is clear with white writing and an image of leaves infused with pepper and ginseng. The back label describes the product, ingredients and has the barcode.
The muscle therapy contains what is described as a stimulating blend. The scent is slightly masculine with a hint of spice and warmth, to sit in I feel a warmth not only from water temperature but from the mixture even as the water cools. The fragrance of the ginseng and pepper really do open the airways and help when I have a cold.
The bubble bath is thick in consistency and bubbles up nicely the best when poured straight under a hot running tap. The soap suds feel luxurious and for £1 a bottle this is well worth it. Read the complete review |

Radox Relax Bath Therapy

Radox Relax Bath Therapy
Having moved into a new and larger flat at the beginning of December 2012 my partner and I now have a bathroom which holds the luxury of a bath. After years of only having the option of a shower this is possibly my favourite feature of our new flat and so far I have been making good use of ... it.
When we first moved in one of the first things I purchased was a nice large bottle of Radox Relax Bath Therapy. I have used this bubble bath many years ago when I was living at my mums and I remembered liking it rather a lot. The bubble bath is a lovely shade of purple and comes packaged in a clear and tall plastic bottle with a purple lid to match the liquid inside. On the front of the bottle you have the Radox logo along with an image which I presume is meant to represent a relaxing image and on the reverse of the bottle you have the usual list of ingredients, instructions for use and contact details for the manufacturer.
The liquid in the bottle is of a good consistency, it is not so thick that it takes ages to pour and not so runny that you accidentally pour in too much. I would say it is just right to be able to add your exact desired amount. The lid of the bottle is a screw lid and it is relatively easy to unscrew so this maybe something to bear in mind with regards to storage if you have little ones who are into everything!
Bubbly Bath Time
Personally I love nothing better than spending my Sunday evenings soaking in a nice bubble bath enjoying a good book for an hour, as you can imagine this is quite relaxing in itself and is another reason I was drawn to the Radox Relax range. To make my bath lovely and bubbly I usually run the hot water and add just a small amount of Radox Relax to the running water, this instantly begins to create bubbles in the water and I was surprised at how little I need to add to achieve a lot of bubbles! The scent of the bubble bath is evident almost straight away and like most 'relaxing' products there is a strong hint of lavender among what I would describe as being a very herbal a light scent. I find the scent to be very nice and reasonably strong without crossing the border into being overpowering.
As I mentioned earlier I like to spend around an hour in the bath by which time I am suitably relaxed, the water is starting to cool and my fingers and toes are looking a little pruney! I long for the day when my bubbles will last the duration of my long baths however I am yet to find a bubble bath which can meet this need, Radox Relax does put up a good fight for the title of "The Longest Lasting Bubbles" however it seems to fall short by around half an hour which results in me lying in simply a bathful of water for the last half an hour. It is nice to note though that while the bubbles do disappear the nice aroma remains for the duration of my bath. I have tried adding extra bubble bath liquid to make the bubbles stay longer but this had no effect so I returned to using my lesser amount.
After completing my nice long soak I usually empty the water from the bath and give it a rinse round with the shower head. I am always please to note that the Radox Relax doesn't leave any kind of residue in the bottom of the bath and this means I simply have to do a quick rinse before continuing my relaxing evening.
Relaxing Ingredients?
The ingredients for those who are interested can be found on the reverse of the bottle and read as follows:
Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Chloride, Parfum, Sine Adipe Lac, Lavandula Angustifolia Flower Extract, Nymphaea Alba Root Extract, Citric Acid, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Sodium Lactate, Polyquaternium-7, Limonene, Linalool, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Benzoate, CI 17200, CI 42090.
These don't really mean a lot to me and I have never had any kind of skin reaction with the product but others may have allergies etc so always best to check.
Recommended Relaxation?
Oh yes definitely! I love my Sunday evenings in the bath and I will be repurchasing Radox Relax again in the future when my bottle eventually runs out but at the moment I still have plenty left. I always feel relaxed after my long baths and I would say that I do feel slightly more relaxed when using this product compared to when I tried a bath with no bubble bath so this suggests to me that the relax element of the product is effective enough.
Radox Relax Bath Therapy can currently be purchased in most supermarkets and is usually priced at around the £2 mark for a 500ml bottle.

Boots Natural Collection Strawberry Bath Cream
by FrostBite
I have never been a huge bath fan or any sort of bath fan if I am honest but I had the (mis)fortune to move into a house with only a bath (well it has more fittings but only a bath for a full wash). As I previously had a shower this came to a shock and I forgot about bath creams and foams etc. so I recieved a lot of gifts of this nature ... with this being one. The strawberry bath cream from boots came as a pack of three with an orange gel and purple gel in a nice clear box.
This is part of the Boots Natural Collection which I do feel is a little bit of an exaggeration with the bright red, thick pearlescent nature and intense smell being nothing like eating strawberries or even looking at a strawberry. Natural products are usually less gloopy, pungent and do not necessarily glitter. Boots is a UK pharmacy chain originating in Nottingham and branching out to selling skincare, other health products and even opening opticians from 1968.
The bath cream came in a pack of three all sized 75ml with a shelf life of 12 months from opening. There was a plastic see through box with the Boots Naturals collection black branding but I threw this away in favour of storing the bottles on my bathroom shelf. The bottles are quite minature and cyclindrical with black screw top lids which are difficult to open with wet hands. The label is of the Natural Collection range with a natural looking strawberry.
I find the scent is very pungent and of a artificial nature matching that of medicines. It is sweet and very much strawberries but not the 'summer fresh' scent which is advertised. The consistency is gloopy and thick with a pearlescent sheen being almost bright red in colour.
It is difficult to open the bottle with wet hands which is daft as it is made to be used in the bath. I also found that despite providing a good white foam when rubbed in a flannel or on a scrunchie, the cream is hard to get out of the bottle meaning some is wasted when near to empty. The cylindrical bottle shape makes it very difficult to squeeze anywhere other than the middle. Due to this and the small bottle size, 5 washes is not very economical therefore I feel it would be a waste of money.
After washing I did feel clean but the scent did not last so I had to use body spray to make up for this. However, as a gift it does look nice and Boots are a trusted brand. Read the complete review |
