Boots Extracts Fairtrade Almond Body Wash
by missmaile
For Christmas I was given a gift set from Boots with body wash and body butters. One of the body washes was the Extracts Almond Body Wash. I have such a huge stash of toiletries which I am working through and it has taken until May for me to try this wash out!
The body wash comes in a tube, it is a clear tube with a label ... around it and has a lilac cap. The photo on the tube is of a stem on an almond tree and and the fair trade logo is clearly shown in the front of the tube, it also states that the almond oil used in the product is organic and the honey used is fair trade.
The body wash is a creamy colour and is a nice consistency - I hate really runny shower gels and body washes, but this is nice, it does not take too much effort to squeeze from the tube but does not just run out either.
The scent I was unsure about when I squeezed it from the tube, my first thoughts were that it does not smell like almonds, it did smell slightly sweet though which I guess is the honey in it. I used a shower scrunchie and only had to use a very small amount. It lathered up nicely and made masses of bubbles.
Unfortunately the smell pretty much disappeared once the gel was on the scrunchie, it was a clean soapy kind of smell that you would expect from a plain shower gel, it had lost its sweetness and it certainly did not smell like almonds.
Whilst I was disappointed with the scent of this body wash I do think it lives up to its claim to cleanse, condition and moisturise, my skin felt lovely and soft after use and it had a nice sily feeling whilst washing with it.
A full size tube is £4.50 from Boots and contains 200ml. I would not buy this because the smell is really important to me when using bath and shower products and this just didn't do it for me, I was happy with how is made my skin feel though. Read the complete review |

Boots Botanics Softening Body Wash
by Chippytarka
This particular product was purchased in a gift set including 2 other products from the range. Since I tried the Body Polish, I wanted to try this product, the Softening Body Wash, hoping to give me alittle faith back into this product range and be impressed rather than disappointed.
Another product I don't think is available ... anymore as I think they have repackaged, and reformulated this range. The set cost me between £3-4.00.
How is it packaged?
Its 50ml in size ( travel size ). Plastic clear tube with flip top lid lid to get product out. Labelling is green with a cream stripe across the top. On the front it says what the type of product it is, ' Softening Body Wash '. It gives the impression that the product contains active plant extracts ( as it says on the label ). On the back it gives directions for use, warnings and you have 24 months use once opened.
Ingredients
No ingredient details on the back but says product contains Centella - a herb that apparently contains chemicals that increase collagen production, reduces swelling and lowers blood pressure in the veins.
How to use
Massage onto wet skin to create lather. Rinse well after use.
How did it perform
The smell is the same I have expected and experienced from this range and formulation. Its clean and fresh and completely unisex. Smells quite plant based but has a sweetness to it so very pleasant and easy on the nose. Not overpowering at all.
The product is a creamy yellow in colour. The texture a decent thickness and very shiny in look. It lathered up very well and felt it was quite concentrated, as I didn't need too much. The bubbles were quite small and compact in size so didn't feel as if I was covered in air rather than product. It was very easy to use, and felt that while washing myself and after ( when dry ), my skin didn't feel it was stripped of moisture nor even after afew hours I didn't feel it irritated my Psoriasis which is always important.
Overall I felt clean, reasonably moisturised and felt the shower experience was quite enjoyable. But would have liked skin to have felt softer.
Would I buy again if it was available? Maybe, maybe not. Not because it didn't do what it was supposed to do, which it did. I just feel I have used other products in the showered that had more of an impact on me.
Pleasant shower product that cleaned well but didn't quite wow. Read the complete review |

M&S China Blue Foaming Bath Essence
by alyson29
I enjoy shopping at Marks and Spencer for some of my toiletries, particularly as they offer a huge range; the majority of which are very affordable. Approximately seven years ago I fell in love with their China Blue fragrance, which carried an array of different products such as shower gels, liquid and soap bars, hand wash, bathing ... products and body creams and lotions. However, after using the products for a good few years I was bitterly disappointed to discover that the entire range had been discontinued.
However, whilst browsing the toiletries aisles in the Cardiff store several months ago, I was delighted to see a limited range of China Blue products had returned to the shelves. I learned from a sales assistant that they were trialling some of the products in some of the larger stores and dependent on how it sold Marks and Spencer would decide whether to reintroduce the entire range. Fearing that the products would soon disappear I found myself stock piling a number of my favourites with this review discussing my experience with using the Foaming Bath Essence.
We are provided with 500 ml of bath essence, which is presented in a luxurious shaped cylindrical sturdy plastic bottle; the appearance of which mirrors the entire China Blue range with its white background and eye catching images of swirls of blue flowers. The bottle offers a contemporary appearance and is far superior to other brands with its stunning touches of calligraphy depicting the product name. It is evident that considerable thought has been given to the design of the bottle, even down to the chunky T-shaped lid, which creates a touch of luxury.
Whilst I do not generally favour blue bathing products due to the fact that store value brands always opt for the colour, it is the aroma that totally won me over when I initially tried the brand around seven years ago. Unfortunately, both the name China Blue and the product appearance do not enable the consumer to identify the stunning scent, which contains a beautiful blend of precious jasmine, ylang ylang, generanium and rose. I must admit that I am not generally a fan of rose fragrances, as they can often be too cloying and a little old fashioned. However, it is the inclusion of both jasmine and ylang ylang that perfectly compliment the rose where they create an aroma similar to that of clean, fresh linen.
The lid is easily unscrewed with the thick vivid blue contents being easily dispensed into a bath of running water where only a small amount is required. Within seconds, plentiful white fluffy bubbles are created with the stunning aroma significantly intensifying and filling my bathroom. This is an extremely positive point as far as I am concerned, as my recent experiences of bubble baths have been pretty poor, as whilst they initially offer a scent, it soon disperses within seconds of being added to the bath water.
Lowering my body into the soft and creamy bath water is pure pleasure, as there are mountains of soft fluffy bubbles that envelop themselves around my skin and despite introducing soap to the water they remain perfectly intact, as opposed to popping, which is normally the case with many other brands, which cannot cope with soap. Whilst I live in a soft water area, the bath essence delivers an additional softness to my bath water and as a result, offers me an indulgent and luxurious bathing experience. The only issue I find is that if I have added a little too much of the product, I am ages attempting to swish the remaining bubbles down the plug hole.
The scent transfers to my skin, which is a point I find extremely favourable and I cannot speak of suffering any adverse effects such as dryness. As I like to layer this gorgeous fragrance I use the matching talcum powder following my evening bath, which enables the scent to remain evident until the following morning. I have looked online for a price, but at the time of writing, the Marks and Spencer website is out of stock. However, if my memory serves me correct I believe I paid around £2.50 and as the 500 ml bottle lasts around eight weeks with bathing every night, it represents excellent value for money.
As you have no doubt guessed, I can highly recommend China Blue Foaming Bath Essence, as it is such a stunning feminine scent without being too overpowering. As a result, it receives five stars from me. I can also recommend the other toiletries within the China Blue range, which enable you to layer the gorgeous aroma.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading. Read the complete review |
