Lush Miranda Soap
by sarahrichmond5
I first found out about lush when I was bought some as a present at Christmas. I had seen the shops before but always found their products so expensive that I could never afford to spend that much money on myself although I have to admit the products and shops do smell good enough to eat!!
When I got a hamper of their ... products this soap was in amongst all the other things. It didn't look like anything too exciting when I first saw it but I couldn't have been more wrong!
The smell is the most striking thing about the product its gorgeous it's a very sweet smell and it fills the whole room. I leave the soap out on the side of the bath and you can definitely smell it when you walk into the room.
The soap is a good size I'm not sure how much it was as I didn't buy it myself. It was in a 100g block so it has lasted me ages! The soap is not in the normal shape you would expect it is like a block that has been cut at an angle, each piece of the soap will be different and look different, i quite liked this fact it makes the present even more special.
I used it for the first time in the shower. I rubbed the soap all over my body and it lathered up really well and the smell became stronger as this happened. You dont really need much of the soap to get a good lather going it seems to only use a little bit each time.
The soap leaves my skin lovely and soft and smells nice for ages after using it. I have sensitive skin and did worry that it might be affected by this but it wasn't it has actually improved my dry skin.
I would definitely recommend this soap to anyone who likes smelling fresh and clean and having lovely soft skin. Read the complete review |

Lush Ocean Salt Face Scrub
by askmeanything
Usage:
The first time you open this little, black, pot of exfoliating facial scrub you will need to give it a little mix.
Onto damp skin I rub Lush Ocean Salt Face Scrub onto my face, and neck, in circular movements. It is of a thick and creamy substance with grains of sea salt embedded within.
My ... findings:
Sea salt is abrasive and the product ought to warn about this, otherwise people might use this on a daily basis, and find the skin has been over exfoliated. I have used this once a week and that really is plenty. The scrub scratches against my skin, the grittiness is uncomfortable, and leaves my face looking reddened. From now on I am not going to use it on my face but try it on my feet because I reckon they can handle the exfoliation a lot better than my sensitive face.
Another problem, for me, is that when it touches my lips or accidently goes in my mouth it tastes of salt - yuk!
I have one spot on my face - I wonder if this scrub could have caused it?
Do not use this if you have dry or sensitive skin unless you want to look like you've been attacked by a mad beautian with sandpaper. For oily combination skin it does make the face feel soft afterward but I also felt a bit sore during and after the initial application.
I suggest wearing a shower cap as it is a real pain when the mixture gets stuck in my curlys along my hairline.
Watch out for any cuts or sores on your body because if this citrus based exfoliator touches it - ouch!
Lush Ocean Salt Face Scrub is not tested on animals and is suitable for vegetarians but not vegans. It is handmade and contains natural ingredients but these are mixed with a few chemicals. Although the key citrus ingredients have been soaked overnight in vodka do not attempt to consume this product!
Ingredients:
Fine Sea Salt, Fresh Grapefruit Infusion, Coarse Sea Salt, Stearic Acid, Fresh Organic Lime Extracted in Vodka, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Triethanolamine, Avocado Butter, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Lime Oil, Lime Oil, Seaweed Absolute, Violet Leaf Absolute, Glycerine, Lanolin, Cetearyl Alcohol, *Limonene, *Linalool, Perfume, Colour 42090, Methylparaben, Propylparaben
*occurs naturally in essential oils
It smells of the ocean. The scent isn't my favourite because of the salt smell but once washed off the scent will disappear. After my first use I learnt to use a minimal amount per facial scrub to limit the tingly and scratchy feeling. I have to apply moisturiser on to combat this drying out of the skin.
I can now update you, as I paused in my review writing, to try the facial scrub on my feet. As with my face, I dampened my skin first. I can now report that this did not cause any negative effect on my feet and they feel soft and smooth. There's no horrid salt taste unless you are fond of sucking your feet! I think Lush should change the facial scrub into a foot scrub. That might make me give them more stars.
Personally, I feel £6.95 per 100g is not worth it for this coarse product. There is such a small amount at a high price that if you do decide to buy (you might not react poorly to it) then the price might mean you will want to limit use. I advocate a visit to a branch of Lush where they can provide a trial sample. It does scrub and it does clean just as the advert on the lid promises. However, it is harsh on sensitive skin. Whilst it does not suit me it might be wonderful for you. Read the complete review |

Lush Ickle Baby Bot
by AbsintheFairy
I'm in the process of sampling all of Lush's bath products (I'll get there eventually), and one I tried recently was the Ickle Baby Bot. I hadn't bothered about this one in the past, as I'd assumed that it was designed for babies and young children, but after reading a couple of positive reviews on it recently I decided to give it a go. ... Ickle Baby Bot is one of the cheapest ballistics at £1.85, but it is also one of the smallest, weighing only 65g.
This is quite a small ballistic but it's very cute - it is in the shape of a little robot. He is light blue and designed to soothe and calm babies (or anyone else who uses it). The ballistic achieves this effect through the use of lavender, sandalwood, camomile and angelica root oils which are all designed to be relaxing and calming. I'm sure many people will have drunk camomile tea or used lavender products to help them sleep.
There aren't many ingredients in this ballistic, and no nasty chemicals. Apparently ballistics were first invented for this reason - bubble bars and similar products contain sodium laureth sulfate which is a foaming agent, and can sometimes cause skin irritation. Ballistics on the other hand contain only sodium bicarbonate - this is the ingredient that helps the ballistic to fizz, and is a common ingredient in baking - if it's ok to eat, it should be ok to bathe in!
I'm not a parent, but I've heard that extremely young children shouldn't have any products used on their skin at all; also, any ingredient, including essential oils, can potentially cause a reaction - however, the ingredients in this product should be safe to use in the vast majority of cases. It has been specially designed to be mild and gentle on the skin.
I thought the little robot smelled lovely. I could definitely detect the lavender and camomile and thought the scent was really relaxing. I ran the bath, got in and dropped the little robot into the water. He fizzed away quite quickly, releasing scent and colour.
Because the Ickle Baby Bot is so small, I didn't think it would have much effect on an adult bath, particularly as I have the water quite deep, as I am rather tall and my knees always end up sticking out of the top. However I was pleasantly surprised to see that the water turned a lovely pale blue colour that was clearly discernible. The calming lavender and camomile scent wafted around the bath too.
In general, baths always do make me feel more relaxed, but I was impressed to note that this bath in particular made me feel incredibly calmed and almost spaced out. I don't know if this was partly a coincidence, but I felt really sleepy and soothed. Even though the scent wore off considerably once the ballistic had dissolved, I still felt really relaxed.
I stayed in the bath for ages, and when I got out continued to feel relaxed all evening. Sadly the scent didn't last on my skin, but I applied some Dream Cream which also has a lavender scent. The ballistic didn't make my skin feel moisturised, and I didn't expect it to considering it doesn't contain any moisturising ingredients. However it didn't dry my skin out, and my skin felt soft and soothed with no irritation at all.
I was very impressed with this ballistic. Despite its small size it was very effective at making me feel calm and relaxed. It turned the water a calming blue and smelled lovely. It's the cheapest ballistic available and is well worth the money in my opinion. The gentle ingredients and cute shape make it suitable for kids but it's ideal for adults too! I will definitely be repurchasing this ballistic.
Ickle Baby Bot is also available as part of the Relax Take a Bath Gift Set (which also includes a Dreamtime Bath Melt and Dorothy Bubble Bar), which is the perfect place for it in my opinion. Read the complete review |
