Lush Freeze Shower Gel
by CosmicLove
I was given a 500 gram bottle of this shower gel last Christmas from my Dad. He'd asked me what I wanted and I said that I liked Lush products and this is one of the things that he bought me. Personally, I wouldn't have chosen this product my self based on the name and the bright blue gel, because it just looks a little masculine in my ... opinion.
Not that it matters what a shower gel looks like, but that's just my opinion. It is also extremely expensive, and I definitely will not be buying another one - even though I do actually like it. A 100 gram bottle costs £4.50 and the much larger 500 gram bottle costs £11.95. The shower gel is described as being Lush's original full blast minty shower gel and they say that it is packed with menthol which is really refreshing and cooling.
It also contains lots of other ingredients including synthetic and natural ingredients. It contains sea water, fine sea salt, several oils and aloe Vera gel amongst many other things. It doesn't bother me that the ingredients are not completely natural, however considering the price I must admit that I was expecting the ingredients to be completely natural.
The shower gel comes in a bulky plastic bottle which has a black Lush label wrapped around it and it has a flip top lid which is also black. It is part of the retro range which confuses me because most of the retro shower gels have got white labels. The shower gel its self is a lovely bright blue colour which I absolutely love! It smells fresh and minty but not like toothpaste, it is more of a light and refreshing smell which is really uplifting and it is perfect for waking me up in the mornings while I'm showering.
The consistency of the gel is better than I had expected, and it is reasonably thick and not as runny as some of the other Lush shower gels that I've tried. It lathers up really well so I don't need a massive amount which makes it better value for money. While using the shower gel my skin feels cooled and tingly, which I wasn't keen on - the tingly feeling has grown on me though and now I like it. It is best to use it when the weather is warm as that way using it is sort of a relief and it feels amazing to be instantly cooled down.
The smell doesn't linger for very long and it is not as strong as I thought it would be. It washes off of my skin well and it doesn't leave any residue or irritate my skin at all. My skin always feels fresh, squeaky clean and soft after using the gel but I don't get a silky smooth feeling which I get with other shower gels. I've had my 500ml bottle for nearly six months now an it is just under half full. I've used it quite a lot especially when the weather was much warmer and like I said I only need a blob or two for my entire body so it is quite good value,
All in all I definitely recommend this shower gel and I give it four out of five stars. I've knocked one star off because my skin never feels smooth or silky after using it, and I like my skin to feel smooth after having a shower. It also is quite expensive but a bottle does last for a while so I am not going to knock another star off. Read the complete review |

Lush Magic Mushroom Bubble Bar
by CosmicLove
While looking at the different bubble bars and ballistics that Lush had to offer, I came across the 'magic mushroom' bubble bar. This immediately caught my attention because of the cute, fun design and it is a lot different to a majority of Lush's bubble bars as most are round rather than having a particular shape whereas this is ... actually shaped like a mushroom - obviously it doesn't look particularly life like or anything but by looking at it you can tell that it is supposed to be a mushroom!
I paid around £3.50 for my bubble bar and the prices vary depending on how much your particular one weighs, mine was a decent size and when I first got it it was slightly smaller than the palm of my hand. When I was picking my bubble bar I chose one that was designed the nicest as the design and shape can vary a little, some were quite deformed and squashed - not that this really matters but its worth mentioning and if you buy it online rather than in store it's worth knowing that you may not get a bubble bar completely identical to the pictures shown on the Lush website.
My mushroom when I first got it was basically two round circles on top of each other with the bottom circle being a little thinner so it looked like a mushroom stalk. The bottom is white and the top is red with white spots so it looks more like a cartoon super Mario style mushroom rather than a real one! The bubble bar is made from both synthetic and natural ingredients(including plenty of natural oils) so unlike most Lush products it is not pure natural ingredients which personally doesn't bother me.
The bubble bar is easy to use and I use it just like I use all of my other lush bubble bars- just crumble it under running water. I actually broke my mushroom apart with the white and red part separate, and used each one at different times. I got two uses out of each half, so four uses all in all for my £3.50 which I think is decent value but I wouldn't purchase it again as it is more of a novelty item than anything.
The bubble bar has a delicious smell, with the red half smelling like fresh, sweet strawberries and the bottom half having a rich, sweet vanilla fragrance - when a white and red part is used together it smells like strawberries and cream, which is a lovely scent and I find it very relaxing. I was actually expecting it to have a wacky kind of smell and actually smell like mushrooms - luckily it doesn't!
The bubble bar bubbles up really quickly and even with a very small amount the bath becomes full with big, foamy, frothy bubbles which become even frothier when I swish the water around. Because of this I find it important not to use too much as I don't like having really bubbly baths. Once I've put some of this into the water and it has bubbled up I lay back and relax, enjoying the smell. After my bath my skin always feels silky smooth but not moisturised, but not dry either. The smell does not linger on my skin for very long which I think is disappointing as I love the smell.
All in all this is a quirky, fun product but it is nothing special to be honest as it doesn't leave my skin feeling hydrated or anything and the only difference was that it felt a lot silkier and smoother. It does produce lots of bubbles though and it smells lovely, and it is also good value for money so I definitely recommend it and I am going to give it four out of five stars. Lush Whoosh Shower Jelly
by CosmicLove
I bought this a couple of weeks ago, purely because it looked and sounded quite cool and really unusual, and I couldn't wait to try it! It is basically a shower gel in jelly form which might not appeal to some people but I was really intrigued and it actually isn't as messy to use as I was expecting it to be!
It is available ... in several different colours, all of which have different scents and ingredients. The one I have is called 'whoosh' and it is an aqua blue colour and Lush describe it as a 'seaweed jelly'. It comes in two different sized pots with the largest being 240 grams and this costs £6.50 and the smaller one is 100 grams and this costs £3.50. I got the smaller one in case I didn't like it but next time I buy it I will be getting the larger pot as it works out cheaper.
The 'jelly' is made from mainly natural ingredients including fresh fruit juice and various oils. It does have some synthetic ingredients in it but this doesn't bother me and non of the ingredients are tested on animals. The jelly comes in a plastic pot which has the usual black Lush label on it with the product information written on the front of it and the ingredients is written on the back of the pot, and mine also has a sticker on it saying who made my pot of it which I think is a nice touch.
Inside the pot there is the jelly, which actually looks like real jelly and it has a really nice texture - it is nice and firm and not all runny or anything like I thought it might be and I love the fact that it wobbles! When I first got this, I wasn't too sure about how to use it but now I've been using it for a couple of weeks I find it easy but it obviously is not as quick to use as a normal bottle of shower gel is. First I need to scoop a chunk of the jelly out and then crush it into a loofah or flannel and rub it over my body. It doesn't really lather up very well unless I use a lot of it which I find a little disappointing.
The shower jelly smells lovely - really citrusy and refreshing with a hint of rosemary which gives it an unusual edge, but the smell is not very strong and it does not linger on my skin for very long at all, nor does it linger in the bathroom after I've used it. The shower gel is easy to wash off of my skin and it doesn't stick to it or leave any residue behind. It leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed as well as smooth but it doesn't really leave it feeling particularly moisturised even if I put a blob of it into the bath and soak in it while it is dissolving. Saying that though it doesn't make my skin dry or anything so I can't complain.
The shower gel does leave my skin feeling very clean but apart from that I haven't experienced any benefits such as softer skin etc so I don't think it's the best shower gel I've ever used however I love how fun and unusual it is and it is quite good value as I have used it three times now and my pot of it is still 1/4 full so for £3.50 I've already got a decent amount of use out of it.
I recommend this shower jelly and I give it four out of five stars. Read the complete review |
