Sanex Zero% Shower Gel
by musicdave
With all of the different choices for shower gels why would you choose the sanex zero% shower gel.
The main attraction to this shower gel is the fact that it is promoted as a shower gel that does not contain all of the chemicals that many other shower gels do. There is a lot of controversy with many ingredients in products ... just as there are in many foods and sanex has tried to give an option for people who do not want to use as many chemicals in a shower gel.
The sanex shower gel for sensitive skin contains a limited number of ingredients. These are as follows, AQUA , GLYCERIN , SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE , SODIUM CHLORIDE , COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE , COCO-GLUCOSIDE , SODIUM LACTATE , LACTIC ACID , SODIUM BENZOATE.
If you compare this list to some shower gels you realise just how many ingredients you use every day which you do not know what they are or what they are doing to your skin.
The sanex zero% has also been approved by the european eco label which is aimed at helping make a better environment.
Obviously there is no point in having a shower gel that sounds good but does not work. This is definitely not the case. The shower gel makes you feel very clean and does not dry out your skin like some shower gels can. The sensitive skin shower gel does not have any fragrance but this is not a bad thing, it does the job and it does it well, making you feel clean.
If you are looking for a shower gel that contains a reduced number of ingredients and that works well then this is definitely worth a look. Read the complete review |

Sanex Zero% Shower Gel
by hanmillie
Buying shower gel, never the most exciting of purchases but nonetheless an essential day to day item. I have in the past experienced using Sanex deodorant but never having tried their shower gel range before when I saw a bottle of this in my local supermarket I was keen to give it a try. Now the skin on my body does not get especially ... dry, however I do get very dry skin at this time of year on my hands, feet and face and so I opted for a bottle of Sanex Zero % for dry skin. The beauty of this product in my opinion is the complete lack of harmful chemicals included, and as I have read a great deal of articles about the harm done to skin with certain chemicals recently I was keen to see if using a product without parabens helped my skin.
~The Product and Packaging~
This shower gel is packaged rather simplistically in a 250ml white plastic bottle which stands upright with a translucent clip open lid. The design of the bottle though suitable for both a male or female user, does make it slightly boring in my opinion and certainly not something that will jump off the shelf. The bottle is rectangular in construction however a slightly curved edge on one side of the bottle ensures that it fits neatly into my hand and I can grip it firmly when I am in the shower. On the front of the bottle the standard blue 'Sanex' logo looks bright against the otherwise plain bottle. This product is easily identified as being for dry skin with an orange 'zero%' scrolled across the front whilst orange text also indicates that this shower gel is free from parabens, colourants, phthalates and phenoxyethanot. Turning the bottle over, a smattering of blue text tells me that this shower gel contains a reduced number of ingredients and is specifically designed for dry skin. A green box shows that this shower gel has a minimal impact on aquatic ecosystems and limits package waste.
Enough about the bottle, how does the shower gel smell I can hear you ask. Well opening the bottle the shower gel is a translucent in colour and runs easily out of the lid when gently squeezed. The shower gel has a refreshing and very clean fragrance which is difficult to pinpoint exactly. The best way to describe it is an almost cotton fresh scent which is neither particularly feminine nor masculine in fragrance. I like this smell as I find that it leaves my skin feeling clean, in addition it is a smell that does not linger on my skin and I can therefore put my favourite moisturiser over the top without creating a myriad of differing smells.
~Application and Use~
On the back of the bottle there are no instructions on usage however there is the usual statement of: 'should this product get into eyes, rinse immediately with clean water'. I like to squirt a dollop of shower gel onto my loofah or body brush and then scrub my entire body. I find that a 10p size squirt is usually sufficient to create a lovely thick foam of shower gel which spreads easily across my skin. In addition I do like to add a pea size amount of shower gel onto my face to rinse off the makeup and general dirty feeling from a day in the office. After a good scrub, a rinse of water sufficiently removes the foam from my skin leaving it feeling very clean and smelling fresh.
~Results~
I am enjoying using this shower gel as I find that it leaves my skin smelling fresh and feeling clean and smooth to the touch. I am somewhat sceptical of the 'dry skin' properties of this shower gel as in my opinion it does not leave my skin feeling any more nourished than a standard shower gel without the dry skin properties. However, I like the idea of leaving out a number of harmful ingredients as a find that my skin generally feels slightly less irritated after a week of use. Another reason that I enjoy using this shower gel is that without the harmful chemicals I feel that this product can be used effectively as an all over body wash and it is therefore flexible in being used on my face also. This is a great product for people to share and in my household it is used by both hubby and myself, with the plain packaging and smell meaning that it does not lend itself to either gender. This product foams well and smells fresh and clean therefore it does the job perfectly.
~Price and Availability~
This product can be bought from a number of shops as well as online retailers and you should expect to pay between £1 - £3 for it. It is currently in Boots for £1.14 (prices correct as of February 2013) which makes it a strong contender for other brands of shower gel and a value for money purchase.
~My Summary~
I am enjoying this shower gel and love the versatility that it gives therefore this product comes strongly recommended. As a result of my comments above this product scores a good four stars from me, its only let down being the slightly boring packaging and dry skin claims.
I hope this review has been of some help and thanks for reading! x Read the complete review |

Sanex Zero Foam Bath
by quissue
I buy this product because I have a specially sensitive skin and these items help keep me clean and desensitise my skin and body. I hate shower and bath gels that make you feel itchy afterwards. Fortunately this is one of those products that resolves this problem by making your skin feel soft and cared for.
I like the range ... from sanex, as they not only do bath and shower gels and cremes but do hand lotions and hand washes too. They are very skin caring products and smell very fresh and appealing even though there are no harsh perfumes in their products. This leaves your skin feeling fresh and alive.
There are various different types of sanex products to go with and Although I prefer the dermatological ones there are others to choose from too.
Their range varies from shower gels, bath gels, deodorants, hand wash creams and gels, to shampoos as well.
These vary in price as most of the time there are some kind of other or other going on which can bring the price down to a measly £2 but generally your looking at around £3.95 per bottle of shower or bath gel.
I find these suit my skin and make me feel comfortable with my eczema. I like the gentle fresh smell that it provides although this is not a long lasting fragrance it is not why I buy this product anyway. My main priority is caring for my skin. It lathers well if you get the foamy varieties, I tend to prefer the cremes which have a silky feel and makes you feel pampered. It feels Cool and soothing and has a nice smell. What more could a girl want.
When using the bath cremes and gels I find there is no scum afterwards and this for me is a bonus as the bath looks clean when I empty it, so makes cleaning it afterwards that much easier.
A good product in my view with simple labelling and no nonsense no frills bottles.
These are generally clear with a cellophane label attached to the front in Blue writing, telling you about the product inside. Like I said no frills just good no nonsense cleaning. Read the complete review |
