Another excellent Aldi personal hygiene product

With shower gel not on special offer, that you can purchase for less than quid you're usually looking at a white-labelled store's own 'basic' brand that reeks of 'sea minerals' ie. the scent that was previously known as 'fresh blue' and is sold in an uninspiring opaque plastic 'with integral shower hook' tyle tube.

If you're shopping at Aldi, however, you can buy 250ml little round-shouldered bottles of attractively coloured, attractively packaged cheap shower gel for well under a pound. I used to bulk buy this stuff when I was a regular Aldi customer - before the big Lidl opened up the road - and back in the autumn was paying 59p per bottle for it, though I read in more recent product reviews the price has increased by 10p since then.

In this range there is the ginger variety that comes as an clear, amber coloured liquid, and a grapefruit type that has a wonderful bitter-grapefruit scent. The grapefruit one is coloured shocking pink. The ginger variety has a pleasant, sweetish smell - not the 'amazing ginger zing' I was expecting, but it's certainly nice enough and definitely non-offensive. These shower gels give you a faint, freshly-showered scent-aura for an hour or so after you've used them, but don't cling to you all day. They wash off nicely and I find they lather perfectly well. The two adults in our house using this stuff for a daily wash get through about a bottle every 8-10 days.

I find the products from this bath range I've used extremely good value and very good for purpose and I'm very happy with them. Though I find I have slightly sensitive skin when it comes to cheap liquid-type soap products; some pump-action hand washes dry out my hands excessively, but I've never had any problems with this Aldi stuff. I buy it again and again and just hope they don't suddenly stop selling it.

      Disadvantages

      Some drawbacks - that's why it's only 69p

This product smells very strongly of ginger when you squeeze it onto your hand to use it and this wakes you up pretty quickly on a morning so it gets plus points for that. However, I found it disaapointing in other areas. I didn't think it lathered up very well, even though previous reviewers have said it was good on their hand or on a a scrunchy I found that a scrunchy didn't give much of a lather which is unusual.

This shower gel is quite cheap 0.69p but you don't get much. It would last 2 or 3 weeks if you used it everyday at the most.

I also bought the shampoo and conditioner that goes with this range and found them to be equally poor. Again they smelt nice but didn't really clean my hair and didn't leave it looking very shiny. I also think the ingrediants in the shampoo were almost identical to those in the shower gel.

A wonderful smelling shower gel... if you like ginger

      Aldi Extracts Ginger Shower Gel

Having spotted the shampoo and conditioner in this range in my mums bathroom I decided to grab a bottle of this in my local Aldi store recently, purely for my love of the smell of ginger! A 250ml bottle of this amber coloured shower nectar will set you back an entire 59p. I think that the bottle looks more expensive than that and I certainly would not have guessed that it was from Aldi.

'Energise and stimulate your senses with this shower gel'
This shower gel has the most amazing and intense smell of stem ginger. The shower dispenses on to the palm of my hand or into a shower scrunchie easily with a firm squeeze of the bottle and lathers up pretty well. I enjoy the way that the scent becomes more intense as I clean myself in the shower. It certainly stimulates my senses.

I always feel very cleansed after using this product and although my skin does not feel the softest, it does not feel dry in any way. I simply apply an unperfumed body lotion to make the most of the lingering ginger fragrance of my skin.

I really like this product for its divine gingery smell and its fab price tag. It does the job for which it is intended and I even notice a slight smell of ginger on my bed sheets after I have used this product. I would recommend you give this a try if you like ginger, but steer clear of it you do not!!
